Question for the cops here
Does anyone know what the range of radar detectors is? Like how far behind you can a cop be and still get your speed? Or in front of you?
Just wondering
Thanks,

It would all depend on the type of RADAR device that the officer was using. There is in car moving radar, in car stationary radar, radar guns, lidar guns...all have different properties as far as operation.

In order for a cop to give you a ticket, do they have to use a radar to get the speed or can they just use their eyes and know that you were going over. I was thinking of getting a radar detector but im not really sure if it would be worth it because I dont really speed that much and two if they can grab you by just looking then whats the point in the radar
im not sure about anywhere else but in nyc or long island they really can get you to much anymore with radar most of them use laser now. witch goes pretty far im told but the do need a print out of the laser of your speed and time you were traped when and if you go to court.
they cant get you with moving radar i.e they were going the other way and had radar. this is what i was told by my friends father who is a ny state trooper.

All states are different. Some accept the officers word, like NY. Others require proof, like Cali. Check your state vehicle code, you can usually buy a copy at any state trooper shack or local court house. Or, look it up online.

i dont know about in the states, but around here they can pace you and pull you over. Ive never had it happen but ive heard about it. And they still can clock you accurately while driving.
