I have a Beretta 92F, but it's rather large and I don't really use it much. On duty, I am required to carry my department issue sidearm, a Sig Sauer P228 9mm, the same used by the FBI and US Secret Service. It's a very nice gun, but it too is usually too bulky for off-duty purposes.

that sux man, but if u want a handgun look into getting a glock. they have few parts to mess up, real accurate, and everyone can fix it. if u want a gun to intimidate without having to shoot it look at the Isreali Arms Desert Eagle .50 it is the largest legal handgun available. the downside to it is it weighs 8lbs empty and about 10lbs full plus it only holds 7 rounds but with that much power u only need one shot

Not as much guns as in the states, but plenty of gangs around here. Usually the shootings are targetted, not random tho.

This thread is amazing..... I can't wait to turn 21 just to buy a handgun and go shread some paper at the range. Maybe you should get yourself a video camera and mount it so that it tapes your car and have it linked to ur comp that way u can just delete the video each day if nothing happens that nite. I still love the gun idea!!!!!!!

Quicksilver.....Just how hard is it to get a license to carry a concealed weapon? What are the possabilities of an accountant packing a glock 40 in his suit pocket?

A person can not use a gun to protect a car, period. The most I could do as an officer is display it to stop the commission of a crime (which works 99.9% of the time). You are not allowed to protect personal property using a deadly weapon according to the law.

Edit: If the perp attempts to use force against you to obtain such vehicle, that changes the situation.

If you really want a gun. Go for at least a .40 caliber. If you ever need to shoot someone (hope to god you don't). You want more power. That way it only takes one shot to knock him to the ground. With a 9mm it may take more than one shot to put someone to the ground.

Heck yeah. When I worked for the Sheriffs Dept. I carried a .40 cal Glock 22c,. I still keep that gun in my dresser at home and a .40 cal Glock 27 (sub-compact) in my civic.

But seriously don't shoot anyone unless you fear for your life or the immediate danger to others. If you miss you could hurt or kill someone else. Even if you killed the person breaking into your car, could you really live with the fact that you ended someone elses life over a piece of property?

What you really want is a shotgun.

I hate to bring the law up here, but in most states you can not shoot someone for protection of property.

Thats how you end up in mother-f'ing jail..........
Yep, go spend 200$$ on a peice of shiet Bryco jennings 9mm........
Absolutley not. You know the old saying, you get what you pay for. Spend about 350 on a used Glock, it is most reliable and indestructable pistol out there. Glock doesn't import .380 models in the US, but you can get 5 different models of 9mm, they come in different frame sizes to best fit your hand. Or you can also get Glocks in 10mm, 40 S&W, .357sig and .45.

But please educate yourself on proper use of a firearm and your local and state laws before you get yourself into more trouble that a couple grand of damage.
