Celica or Civic?
LOL i did the same thing, i read every post, damm i feel useless now. but IMO i hate the way the celica's look, too agressive for me. I like more sleek and not so "busy" looking cars.

The Celica has the worst suspension EVER!
There's a reason I guess that so many of them are turning up on used car lots everywhere.

on the first models of the new celica a lot of people were blowing their engines due to not having a rev limiter. and yes, theyre slow. if i can take my friends 00 eclipse 147hp w/ injen cai by A WHOLE CAR then i know i can take a celica.

How much does the 3rd gen eclipse weigh?
Now think about how much the celica GT weighs.
Let me know when you figure out...
If the celica GT is slow, doesn't it make you wonder how fast your car really is?

it's like saying picking a oem car to go auto cross, and selecting the civic instead of a celica -_-
and i've seen more civics in used car lots than celicas...

The Civic handles better and is quicker outta the hole and at the top end.
How can a 2550 lbs car with a 127 hp SOHC engine have better acceleration and top end than a 2425 lbs car with a 140 hp DOHC engine?
And also, the celica handles better than the civic.

Maybe, because statistically, more Civics are sold than Celicas, which leads to a higher percentage of Civics seen on car lots/streets/anywhere else....could be wrong though?

Overall i would rather drive a civic, theres more options you can do to it. They may not be the faster thing off the dealership but they're good dependable cars, so are toyotas dont get me wrong...just dont be biased to one thing (just dont drive mustangs!!)

OKay, I don't mind being critisizes at all but before I accept it I would like to know which of you have actually driven a Celica or raced one.
I have driven both and raced at least 3 stock Celicas when all I had was a tint job on my car...I'm telling you that the Civic Si (EX) reacts better at the top and out handles the Celica....It's all a matter of opinion I guess, but I have seen enough to post my thoughts without any concern as to whether I'm right or not.

Uhm...since this IS a civic forum, I guess I just have to accept the obvious:
The civic EX is faster and handles better than the celica GT
lease:
BTW: Maybe you've just been racing crappy drivers. Go to newcelica.org and compare the 1/4 mile times of their celica GTs to the ones of civics over here. Just don't be surprised when you find out that they're faster...

i am done talking to these honda4lifers
well, i own a 03 civic, and my mom owns a 2k celica, the first yr of the new body type and like i think the celica is a girls car. i dont like to drive it cuz its all stock and cuz i feel stupid driving it cuz its auto. is a gt also. its not really slow, but it aint the fastest car out there. the girls like the celica tho cuz of the look. i'd say i like my civic cuz its got stuff, but if its stock civ vs stock celica, i'd go celica. I was gonna buy her car, but then again it was auto and gt. oh well, still my car to drive when i dont wanna drive mine

Please drop this lame topic.
It's a fact that a Toyota Celica GT is quicker than a Honda Civic EX. It puts out more power on the dyno, more torque on the dyno, has a way shorter gearing, and is 200lb lighter.
Most people on this fourm do mid 16's 1/4mile.. bad drivers do it in 17's... awesome drivers with minor mods (intake & exhaust) do it in 15's.
People on Celica fourms do 15's average... their bad drivers do 16's.. their awesome drivers with mods do 14's.
Also, use some COMMON SENSE. It's a fact that a Civic is slower than a Corolla. Which in turn, is slower than a Celica. Think about it!!
Finally, your racing stories don't count. People's driving abilities vary HUGE. As much as two seconds in a 1/4 mile drag strip. Which translate to multiple car lengths in real life. Just because you beat a Celica GT in your Civic doesn't make your car quicker. It makes you the superior driver.
This is coming from a person that owns a 2001 Civic AND a 2001 Celica GT.
Fourms are full of lies. Everybody knows that. I'll tell you how it goes.
Guys on Hyundai Accent fourms talk about kick Civic ***.
Guys on Civic sites talk about kicking Celica's ***.
Guys on Celica sites talk about kicking RSX's ***.
Guys on RSX sites talk about kick WRX's ***.
Guys on WRX sites talk about kicking Corvette's ***.
Guys on Corvette sites talk about kicking Lamborgini ***.
It's a vicious cylce of lies, and deception that never ends. I'm sure some of Accent drivers have beaten Civics, and some Vette drivers have beating Lamborginis. But like I said--driver plays a MAJOR role. Give your abilities props, but don't give your car unrealistic abilities. It just doesn't have them.
