hey it turns out that if you go to pick and pull or any type of junk yard you can pull a turbo of an old turbo coupe thunderbird and down pipe all for 50 bucks. I know some of you might be thinking well they are all in bad condition. turns out that these ford T5 turbos can be found in perfect condition. well my point is is that I have a friend who welds and such who would be interested in trying to form a turbo kit for my honda. I've already heard that you just can't bolt a turo on and expect to run more than 3psi whithout blowing the motor and that you would need to bolt on a lot more before that job was completely finished (meaning spending a whole lot more money). I was just wondering if you guys think that it could be possible. I've heard all turbos are reletively the same so i figure with the right pipe bending and a nice intercooler this job could very well be done. what would you guys all suggest

Fuel.
IT's all about getting more fuel......we dont have a FPR.
And the dam'd fuel pump is in the gas tank.
That's what sucks. Stuid ULEV.

Turboing your 7thgen is not much different from turboing any other previous gen. The biggest problems are finding space in the engine bay to fit the turbo itself, modifying (and sometimes relocating) parts to run your charge lines, and money (because it's a custom job). If you know where to look, you can find all the parts to turbo your car for under $1200. The most expensive part would be the custom manifold that someone would have to fabricate for you, and the FMIC (Front Mount Intercooler) would be right behind it in price. It's just a matter of having the time and money to have parts fabricated and put everything together. Most of the problems such as the returnless fuel system have been solved by now, and it would still be pretty expensive to produce a kit for the 7thgen that would be worth the power : money ratio. Besides, even if you did succesfully turbo your car, you would spend a good chunk rebuilding your bottom end so that you could run more than 3 or 4 psi. All in all....yes, it is possible....yes, it will be a custom job....and best of all, yes you will have that awesome blow off valve sound when you're done!!! pphhhhhhhhsssssssssssss

Room is not a problem with our cars....there's plenty of room for a small turbo...it's Fuel... a new Fuel pump, and High flow fuel rail were needed to sustain 3psi boost with stock injectors.. TO run ore boost a new fuel pump (wrecked RSX-S) bigger fuel lines, and bigger injectors could do the job at supporting about 7psi boost..but at the point the bottom end would likely give out..

I found a company in California that did the Fiber Images Civic and they say that for $3400 you get the whole kit. Which includes a T3/T4 turbo, Greddy Blowoff valve, Intercooler, header, all the bolts and fittings and they are producing an aluminum intakemanifold for the cars.

Um... 3-4psi without fuel modifications is not just possible. It's easy. I will be doing it. I'm working on a DIY page right now! I will have it up soon. It will outline exactly what you need to turbocharge a 7th gen civic and run 3-4psi of boost. It will take me a little longer to figure out the fuel issue, but when I do prepare to run about 7-8psi of boost. I hear our head gaskets fry at 10psi. After new pistons come out for our cars (I hear Dec. of this year) we can go as high as we want. Well, as high as those pistons and the head gasket will let us. Of course we'll need a new head gasket before the pistons. Nobody knows what the pistons (er, connecting rods) can withstand in a D17 yet. Probably similiar to a D16. Look that up now if you're curious. I will have this and more in my DIY turbo page very soon (1 week).

3-4 PSI would only require some ECU programming and a high flow fuel rail. New injectors and a more powerful fuel pump would be the right way to do it though...Older civics were soo much easier to turbo..
