WTF is up with our car????
last night i'm coming home and this blue celica GT cuts in front of me on an empty road. so i get next to him and we stop at a red light. he looks at me and i look at him.. the light turns green and i burn his a$$ and i could see that he was gunning his car cause i hear his exhaust go crazy. so today on my way to work there a big strip of road that goes for atleast a mile with no light or cops. i'm driving along when i see in my rear mirror this MITSU Galant coming buy me fast..i mean fast ...so i step on my gas.. i floor it and u know what i could not catch up.. there was no way in hell i was gonna catch up. is it me or does our car accelerate fast on some days and some days it don't accelate at all!!

i kinda agree... on days it would be so fast, that i would be unexpected, and it would jerk me to the seat, on other days, it feels like it was dying...

did you have your a/c on??
if so this causes the engine to bog down horribly!!
do you have an auto or 5 speed??
if in a 5 speed all you would have to do is downshift, and take off...which is why im guessing you have an auto...that could be a big part of the problem, if your cruising in your top gear and you gun it, its not gonna take off right away, but at a light when in 1st gear it will take off no problem...
either way a galant is a v6 and has quite a bit of speed to it...that could be why you couldnt catch up too!

its because u have an automatic. i experienced the same situation. u gotta pump the gas twice to get it to jump up whenever ur rolling and wanna downshift. that or just pull the shifter back to D3 and step on it. thats what its there for anyway. more power.

Agreed.
Sometimes when I want to gun it in my auto I floor it and it only shifts down to 2nd gear. It ticks me off because if it went down to 1st it would accelerate much better.
