$$ to paint a bumper

Just wondering what a normal price would be to prep and paint the Xenon front bumper?? I have called a few shops and most of them are saying $400-$450. I called one shop that says it will do it for $250. I know this shop does good work so I will probably go there. What have you guys with aftermarket front bumpers paid to paint and install your bumpers?

When I heard the guy say $450, I was like WHAT?? Its only a bumper not a full kit. Then he went on saying that he has to do all these steps and its alot of prep work...It must be a going rate because out of the ten places I called only one person told me $250...The rest said $400 and up....They all say that the bumpers usually do not fit right...Is that true?

I am actually going to be doing my Xenon kit this weekend (hopefully). And I think the reason the price is so high is because this is no doubt with materials included. I went and bought the paint, clear coat, reducer, hardener, and adheasion promoter, all this came to a little over $400 CDN. I am going to be doing the work myself, with the help of my uncle, he has a shop.

I was also reading the instructions for the kit and there are a few more steps then most so I have heard. You have to wash it, sand it, wash it again, then start the prep work, with the primer and all that good stuff. I asked him how much it would cost for a friend who wants one done and he said he would do the whole kit for about $1200 materials included. But this is all CDN $$$$ too.

Yes this is true. Also, they'll need to "touch up" spots w/ body filler, so it's a lot more work than just painting involved.

You should find a shop to do it for around 200-250....450 is outrageous

If you brought me the paint, i'd do it for 125$

the more expensive they are, the more prep work they do. its all teh same paint, a GREAT paintjob is seperated from a good paintjob by teh prepwork done.

less money = less prep work = not as nice.

the better yoru prep work, the less compensation you have to do with the clearcoat.

Im going to 2 shops today. One shop says that he is a Xenon distributor and my friend got 2 kits painted there(osofast2001). The other shop im going to was recommended by Mike from Ultima Performance. This shop supposedly custom makes its own lips....so ill go check him out too. The shop that said $250 was recommended from Kempster...I think he said he got his kit painted there or he knew someone that did....I dont remember...but ill let you know and ill post pics when its done. Thanks for everyones advice...

I'm looking at the bill for my new OEM rear bumper. Subtracting the Parts cost, the total comes to about $260 for Labor and Paint. Hope this helps.
