help a grrl fix her car - please :)
Hey guys, been a looooooooong time sence I posted.
A while back (sometime near when I stopped posting) I tore my car up by scrapping the back passanger side against a stone wall in a crappy parking deck. I scrapped up the metal/pain on that area above the tire. The estimate to fix was $600 cause they would fill it in with metal or whatever. My dad looked at it and said I should just have it smoothed and painted, and not worry about filling it in.
Soooo..... I was thinking, why don't I fix it myself? If I mess it up then well.. I'll just have to get it fixed, but it's broke anways so it won't matter.
It's rusted now.. so I need to like.. get the rust off, smooth it out and then touch up the pain. It's not a big gash or anything... I can post pics when I get a chanse..
I need to know, what to get to get ride of the rust and smooth it down, or see a tutorial on it.
Were to get paint (touch up pain) for my inca! (rare! eeeek!) and do I use a brush or what???
I thin kit might actually be fun, and I am an artist so maybe I can make it look 50% better then it does now.
I also have some an area that got pushed in from someone's tire on the back of their CRV. So it's not scrapped, jus pushed in real slight.. bent.. I saw this thing on TV that pops them out but havn't been able to find what it's called. Anyone got a easy way to pup out dents? It's a smooth dent, no break in the paint or metal...
any help would be sooooooooooo nice!

does this grrl put out in response to help?
lol, sorry about that. it's the idiot in me trying to think.
1.) to get the rust off, you can use sandpaper or a metal wire brush. if using sandpaper, start coarse (100 grit) and work down to a fine grit paper (~200). you will be 'scratching out scratches.'
if using a steel brush, brush off as much of the rust as you can possibly see. any rust that is holding ground in divets and whatnot, you will have to try and get rid of using any method possible. the goal here, whichever method you're using, is to basically scrape off ALL the rust. make sure you chip off about a 1/4" of paint around the existing rust spot in order to get at the stuff under the paint.
touch-up paint is available at any Honda dealership for a charge of about $5 a bottle the size of nail polish bottles.
2.) the dent in the car... take it to a dent puller, ie: Dentwizards. do an internet search on companies that perform that kind of work. you should get a few responses. quarter-dollar sized dents, that have not broken the paint, will cost you around $75 dollars per, depending on the difficulty/amount of work involved in accessing the OTHER side of the dent.

thanks for the info, I coulda done without the intro sentance though.. just cause I like cars doesn't mean I'm not a nice girl
Hey ronin. Well my cars got a ton of scraps on it, so it was depressing having my car kinda suck cause it has scraps and dents.. now I have gotten used to them, or rather *over* them. I also started to realize as much as i wanna do some cool stuff to my car, I would rather spend the money on other things. I also tried to put some carbon fiber petals on, and they didn't fit. That pissed me off.. over all I wasn't having a good experience.
I still LOVE my car, love the way it drives.. I'm a bit rough on it.. not driving rough, but just exterior wise.. I drive out to a horse ranch once a week to go ridding and it goes through mud and rocks, and them my bf's parents live in a cabin in the woods, we go there alot and they have dogs that jump on the cars, and rocks that pop up.. I guess you coulsd say "off-road" haha.. sorta... or rough road..
I may get a CRV next.. but I still don't like the body style on them... the civic is soooooooooo pretty in a 2 door!

i have CF pedals on my car. what brand did you get? i may be able to help you install them, or i may even purchase them from you.
