FOR ANYONE THAT'S CURIOUS....

I am going down to El Monte this weekend solely to check out jdmhondaparts.com carbon fiber hoods. What should I look for other than a clean clear coat, and no broken weave? Any suggestions? Has anyone heard about these hoods? I once asked before and only got one reply. Also, I live in vegas, and it's a three hour trip. Would my stock hood fit in my trunk, or should I take it off before I go, or what? Thanks for any suggestions!

Uhm make sure the weaves are even...the ends are clean and no rough ends.
Clearcoat must be nice.

Ask how the hoods are made, what grade cf is used, look at them and see if they have proper bracing and include the factory latch...Look at the weave and make sure there are no irregularities. I have seen one of their hoods on a friend's accord though, and it looked high-quality.

LOL...must've missed that...no, the hood won't fit in the trunk. If you're pretty sure you're buying one, you might want to take it off for the drive down there...don't think that would be illegal.

Just so you know, at $350.00 its probaly a low quality carbon fiber hood.

Which isn't a bad thing because that is what mose non-show cars have, even some show cars have the low end CF hoods.

What you should ask is how it will fit. Mine and many others I have seen the CF hoods don't fit perfectly. But you will probaly get the response of "It will fit good"

Also, I would get hood pins/locks. You never know.

Remember, you get what you pay for.

SugarRay could be right on the quality...high-grade cf is expensive and I don't think any reseller would be willing to lose money by selling high-grade cf for cheap...you be the judge.

actually I've been up all night looking at hoods. I think I might skip the trip all together and order a dgmotorsport hood. go check out their site. DGMOTORSPORTS read about their hood construction. I think pedrito bought one and said he was pleased with it. doesnt' cost much more than the fiber images one either.

Yeah,

I have heard really good things about the DGMotorsports CF Hood.

Don't think you can go wrong with that hood.

hey ray with the hoods, they don't come with that little lip for the front grille painted do they? I search member's rides to find someone who doesn't have it painted, but I can't find one. How much did they charge you to paint that little lip?

The little lip is actually apart of your OEM Hood. If you look under your hood, you can see screws that connects the "lip" to the hood.

Some CF Hoods like mine, just add the OEM lip to it, while others come with a CF Lip or you have it painted.

nookiemonster: read this LINK and you may find some additional questions to ask the manufacturers of these hoods. Good luck.
