I wouldn't worry too much about it. If your car still works fine, and nothing is different than before, then it's okay. Plus, when you go for your next maintanence check, the mechanics will notice if their's something wrong and they'll probably fix it for you OR just tell then what you did and ask if they can take a look at it to see if anything screwed up.

I thought there was some kinda safety lock on the reverse position when you're moving forward, so that even if you wanted to, it's almost impossible to push it there. You must have been trying really hard to get that shifter to go into reverse.
