Finally someone is doing the K20A2 swap Part 2
There is a zero chance Honda will warranty my hybrid Civic. For one thing, my Civic chassis has more than 30,000 miles on it. Second, there is no way they are going to warranty a swapped engine in a different chassis.
htowncivicEX:
If you can, please ask the company your dealing with if they would be intersted in doing it again for a 2001 civic ex.
Also, if it is possible for them to give a price for the whole package (now that they've gone through it and seen the labor/parts involved) - that'd be helpful as well.
Again, this is whenever you go to pick your car up and if you remember to ask.
Thanks in advance.

Not Necessairly Desperate,
Just a bit disappointed in this year's (2001+) Civic (tuning potential) and in search of a way I can get the most power for the money.
Turbo = at most 60whp (at a safe boost level) <------------------ Still won't have reliability so not really an option
Motor Work = About the same (again at a reliable/safe level - red line) <------------------ pricing is still not not definite because no one's dealt with the motor or has experience with it.
Gude still hasn't established themselves as a reliable source. <--------- WAS one of my only hopes as of right now
On top of that, I don't want to just hand my new car over to a company as a lab rat, so that they can figure out which way is best.
Its like htwoncivicEx said:
He just wanted the added power (a good amount that would be worth the time and money) in a body style that he's grown attracted to. <-------- I'm in the same situation.
Either way, I think I just have to give it more time. Who know's, maybe more products will come out over the years than any of us have ever expected.
Like I said, Desperately seeking - but not Desperate.

so the thumbs up for waiting... I'll give you another one when you drive it home...

Wow! First time I read this thread. Way to go HTown. Certainly took some cojones to do that swap. I expect once it's done successfully, in a few years we'll be able to buy kits and the price will go down. You will probably get the cover of an import mag with this hybrid!

htown, you have some serious testicular fortitude. So do the guys that are attempting to do this. It sucks being smack in the middle of the country with no shops for hundreds of miles
. I think we should have a civic show in Lincoln, NE, like americruise...maybe... and htown could show us all his engineered "Civic Type X."
