the general rambling

i would just like to vent on performance mods (engine)that are being sold today. first off the gains are never what the box says. second off, the 8-15 hp increase is so played out its pathetic. yes hp is important. no our cars wont get 8-15 hp. from experience, the only people that believe those statements are rice kiddies.

while im on the topic of rice kiddies, i cant leave without tellin my most recent story:

me and my friend phil driving back to my house mid-day clear roads/weather

up zooms a white v6 "powerful" hundai tiburon. kid is tailing us literally 2 feet from our bumper.
i turn to phil..."man kids are damn stupid, look at the kid behind us"...he looks back
phil: "ya i know"
me: "teach this ricer a lesson"

phil downshifts and smokes the kid so bad it looks like hes barely moving. when we finally make a turn, he zooms up again and pulls a burnout right behind us. i just shake my head.

this overinflation of beliefs about performance mods is partly what leads a kid to think a 142 hp tiburon (torqueless wonder part II) can actually stand a chance against a 225 hp 5.0 litre mustang that has torque out da a$$.

there should be a manual given to each new owner of a rice burner such as the tiburon (not the s2k or nsx or anything actually decent), that the car is NOT fast, and you will get laughed at when you try to push a domestic muscle car to race you.

i personally think domestics are aiite cars, just the drivers of them tend to be *********. They hate on our 4 bangers cuz we have half the cylinders and a fraction of the horsepower and are still able to be built to eat em alive (the domestic vehicles that is). Its only natural that they act the way they do. We are invading their original territory and stealing the show. Maybe some of us opt for performance and reliability rather than just all out performance. I have a friend with a 99 Cobra, which is a really beautiful ride (lowered, 18" chrome 2000 Cobra Rs, tint, fast), but it has already been thru hell and back (i.e. new engine, sits cuz its in need of repair like every other day). So, yeah, umm.. what was my point again??

you must not go to a lot of car shows...at one recent one there were the usual group of tuned rice burners...and as you walked down the line all you would see was people stop and their jaws drop. the car that did that was a blown stingray corvette pushing approx 700 hp to the wheels.

and no, none of the other cars could touch this guys domestic if they were to race him.

HEHE the domestic import dispute has begun. My dad has owned honda then went to dodge and had dodge for years and lost a lot of money with them. He got his new Accord and 17K now on it and hasn't had it in the shop yet for one thing besides just oil changes and tire rotation. Some people may have good luck with domestics but no way I have see one with 250K miles on it like my old civic that my mom now has started driving again since I bought my car, and it runs excellent still. So yeah you may buy domestics but mustangs in my mind will always be slow the only car that I really have a little respect for is the Cobra. Just my $.02
