Pulled over by a cop....

well, i thought i would share my story. i just picked up my ride
about two days ago after my kit and dc sports tcs have been installed and
the next day i already get pulled over by a cop. i was freaking out
thinking i was speeding or something. as the cop approached me, i noticed
that he was the same cop that pulled me over for speeding a couple months
ago. i told him that he was the same cop that pulled me over before and he
didn't recognize me until i should him the old ticket he gave me for speeding.
i asked him what did i do wrong and he told me that he noticed i didn't have
my front license plate and my exhaust was too loud. i told him that my exhaust
was state legal and that's why i bought it and then he told me if i could
pop up my hood. thank god my hood is stock so he didn't find anything so he
told me that he won't be writing me any ticket. He also suggested that i get
some kind of document stating that my exhaust is state legal and keep this
document in my car just in case other cops pull me over. i felt relieved.....
as i pulled out to head to work i saw the cop pull over another fixed up car.
i am hearing that a lot of cops are now telling everyone to pop up their hoods.
so be careful out there.........

He means they are looking in the ENGINE compartment for any illegal parts, not the hoods ...... Also...... don't drive around with the "NOS" bottle hooked up

Yup, driving around with your NOS hooked up is a big no no. Huge fines for that. Some of the smart officers even know to look for dummy lines (so it looks not hooked up but it really is ready to go) I know that some police are looking for stolen parts and may ask you for proof that you bought them. There was an article in Super Street last year I think that covered all this.

For real I have never seen that. That is just so stupid if you ask me officers need something else better to do in my opinion, like drug dealers, and people that kill people on the roads everyday and thats not FnF dressed up cars. Its Gramps or some other who just is out to get everyone playing a cop or some BS. AHH just my $.02 things are just getting dumb anymore

I agree, but partially. I've seen a lot of retards who totally mod out their car and then drive around on the streets like they're running in the flippin' Nascar circuit. That's the problem, and I think cops are trying to avoid people driving like idiots and, as you say, killing people.
I'm not hatin' on ya man, just expressing my opinion. It's cool to mod out your car and race it off the streets, but in the middle of the day with other people on the road .. keep it safe, k?

Cheers!

Generally it's not a good idea to tell the officer, "Oh hey, you wrote me up for speeding last month!" If the officer thinks you're a repeat offender he's probably not going to be as likely to let you go. You got lucky I guess.

As far as asking you to pop your hood, you doing so would be consenting to a search, right? You could say "no" but you're probably gonna get a ticket for something else.

Nobody looks under the hood in New York. As far as NOS, highly illegal in New York State. You can count on having the car impounded, and being arrested for a number of charges. You must have a permit to transport gas in New York State, and a special endorsment on your DL. Needless to say, they aren't given out for people who want to use the item for racing.

As far as an exhaust problem, loud ones are quite obnoxious and annoying. Even if street legal, a noise summons can be written in New York.

The reason cops stop fixed up cars is because equipment violations are obvious on them.

It doesn't matter; if you're transporting it you're in hot water.

We dont have too much of a problem like that around here thank god. I dont mind if the police want to pull me over and check my ride. I dont have anything to hide, and if there is a dispute well then I will take my ticket and then go through the system.
I have seen some cars thats are modded with cheap parts and are no doubt illegal and could cause problems, those are the people I would worry about. Mostly kids with cars and they want to be cool and wanna race everyone.
