Gotta love the BOV's - kinda makes me wish I didn't have a SOHC non-VTEC engine so I could do it...

Man, it just doesn't look like it's worth the money to put a turbo on the d17.
I read somewhere that this guy spend all this money to rebuild his bottom end and he ended up running 11psi, but the car was only dynoed at 193hp!!!! If that's true, that is absolute CRAP!!! And all these kits that are $3000 and up, let you run 5psi and you only get another 50hp? WTF's up with dat? Just spend $600 on a 50 shot, and you got your extra 50HP. I mean, don't get me wrong, you don't have all the cool sounds of a turbo, but you got another $2400 in your pocket!

Yea i see your point with the nitrous system, but the point is that you don't have to keep pressing the button and refilling the tank just to keep your car with that power. So say you racin against a v6 or v8 with nitrous and suddenly you run out.... Well that's just my opinion though. late

Well, you could always set it up to spray at Wide Open Throttle.....
But yeah, you're right. Over time, with the money you'll spend refilling the bottle, you'll have paid for a turbo kit.
I think that right now, the best thing you could do is the K20A2 swap and that'll give you a decent platform to work with.

I have lost most of my hope for our cars to be FAST. I remember the HKS Prototype Turbo and I was excited about that prospect and even started saving the money. But after months and months, the idea looks to be totally scraped.

With the Type S engine swap, that looks interesting and can't wait when htown's swap is done. But would like more research and time before going that route. If its a sucess which I am hoping for, then I will probaly be doing that in a year or so.

I would put the money into our engines just cause I can, I am not looking for high HP cause I dont race so it doesnt really matter, i just want a nice cruisen car with a little pep. I would die to have a turbo just for the BOV, I love that sound.

if you are that depressed make a custom turbo for your car

thats what i will hopefully be doing within a year, given ive saved up the funds

you can make a nice custom kit for a lot less than $3000

ok, if you were to swap in a k20 for that d17, would there be room for a turbo? i don't think so, sure you'd have 200 or so hp, but you woulnd't have room for an increase. just a thought. besides, an engine swap costs more than a freaking turbo kit and if you're compairing price wise, you get next to nothing.

there could be room for a turbo, no one knows yet

but you are leaving out going NA which could get you a lot of hp from a k20a2
