Hit and Run...

I'll make this short and sweet...

At a stop sign last night in back of a camaro. I see some punk @ss bumpin their heads to some music in the car. The rolls down his window and flips me off, I pretend like I didn't see it (to avoid trouble). I see his reverse lights come on and he keeps creeping back, just to **** me off. Soon he is about 2 feet away from my bumper. He then hits the gas and slams right into my front bumper, I don't know if he misjudged the distance or what. Anyways, right as I was getting out of my car to exchange information(and a few words hehe), he smokes his tires and peels out of the area. I guess my question is what can I do to fight this in court? I have a witness who tells the same story. I went to the police station and on the investigative report they said it was "hit and run" / "Assault and battery". Qckslvr or anyone else familiar with the court systems... what can I do? Please help.... this sucks!!

That is definitly a Hit and Run, and you have a witness so that is really good. I would also think that this could be considered "Dangerous Driving" or "Driving Without Due Care". I am not sure about this but Qckslvr would know better than anyone.
Did you get the plate or anything so you can catch the @sses that did this?.
Did they do any damage?.

Well... i don't want to say to much bc my lawayer told me to be careful.. but ya, I know exactly who did it and the police officer had a big grin on his face when i mentioned his name. He did minor damage but noticable, scratches, a dent and the worst part... he cracked my DC sports front liscense plate holder!!

Request an arrest with the police department. Also, sue the person in civil court for the damages to your vehicle.

Since you weren't hurt, it's not the most severe type of hit and run. What they'll do is probably issue a summons to the person for leaving the scene of an accident with PD (property damage). You'll probably have to sign some sort of affadavit or complaint saying "I observed so and so on such a date operating such a vehicle and drive into my vehicle and leave the scene."

Do request a summons or arrest be made however. As far as civil court, small claims court should do unless the damage exceeds around $3,000 which is the limit for most small claims courts.

Man take him for what hes worth... if the bumper is messed up pretty bad, get full price for it, then buy the same front, or hell, buy another body kit front at his expense...

by the way, some people are f-ing morons...

That's what I am talking about. Just make sure no one is around to witness you beating the livin $hit out of him. Me personally, I don't know what I would've done. I carry a 9mm in my glove box, illegal yes, but oh well. I think that would've made my trigger finger have a little itch.
