Hey guys

my friend is so tight. he know someone who works at the dealership and i got a hook up.
so i went to the dealership today cuz i got a free hook up on the foglights installation. i really saved $$$ because i asked the dealer how much they charging for installation and they were charging me $289. so i said yall can kiss my ASIAN A$S !!!!!
anyways, so they lifted my car and everything and they saw the bottom of my car? the dealership guy and my friend was like "hey ur car is really clean, how long have u had ur car?" i said it was about a year old and one month !
so he said "u gotta be kidding me, ur stuff on the bottom are spotless". i didn't think he literally meant spotless, but he means that the bottom of my car is really clean, no mud no rusting etc. but my friend said that i need that plate protector or something. he said i need that plate to protect the stuff under my car from scratches etc. like from speed bumps. Yall know what im talking about right? that steel plate that keeps the bottom from scratches.
so i asked him, it doesnt come standard in civic? he said no.

here's my question guys, anyone of you have that plate thing that protects the bottom of our cars from scratches like speed bumps?

you have one. its that plastic piece that covers the underside of the front of your car.

nah man, i dont have anything under the car. its bare, the pipings etc.
one thing for sure i have one on my old 97 corolla. because one day my friend and i were cruising in DC. and u know DC is notorious for high speed bumps like 9 inches or so. anyways i was on a rolling stop and i suddenly heard a bang. so we pulled over and he checked. he said im ok because the car had the steel plate on the bottom to protect from scratches like that.

but in my civic, it doesnt have it, believe me, i can see the muffler, pipings etc. it worries me !

I haven't seen any skid plates for cars unless they were custom made. I know they make them for trucks. They add A LOT of weight and honestly unless you have your car sitting on the ground or you live in an area that you would be bottoming out a lot you really wouldn't need one. The subframe manifold protects most things you would need to worry about. Your oil pan is the is really the only thing I would be concerned about but that is my 2 cents.

Under my car I have the sub frame manifold and then there are plastic pieces that are connected to the underside of the front bumper cover, which is what was refered to earlier I think. The rear of the car really doesn't have to much coverage.
