Looking to start modifying but basically know nothing
My buddies recommend me getting a K20 engine if i was to get a older honda civic. So i need help finding parts, learning how compatibility works.
firstly, how can I find out what years are compitable with a K20 swap, what years are too new what years are too old.
2. where do i source an engine, people told me mixed things about using ebay
3. Do i need to buy a new powersteering unit, or any other part that may not cross over to the new engine?
4. will transmission need to change with the new engine
5. If i cant find a nearby manual how much would a cross over typically cost to change it to becoming an manual not automatic.
6. What type of shops can i bring my parts too, and have them do the work? my state is Minnesota
parts I need recommendations on
Best turbo for K20
Blow off Valve
Cold Air Intake
Best lower springs
Good sounding way to do exhaust, preferably sporty look, looking to do wing, racing lip and bottom and change out lights on it aswell just so you get the idea.
sport rims need style ideas that go good with civics
Best ECU for whatever years go with k20
Swaybar
Throttle body upgrade

Re: Looking to start modifying but basically know nothing
They all need aftermarket mounts and assorted crap to fit a K-series. Any car pre-2006 won't bolt in (except for the EP3)
If you're wanting a shop to do it, just buy a car with the engine already in it (8th-gen Si, 7th gen Si, any RSX). It's a massive waste of money to pay someone else to do it and it'll be cheaper.
B-swap would be a lot cheaper and have a lot of interchangeable parts with D-series civics. Better yet, just buy a car with a B-series already in it (EM1, Integra).
There are tons of threads online that have all the information you're looking for.

Re: Looking to start modifying but basically know nothing
OP: If you live in Florida I am selling a 95 EX coupe with a JDM B20 block and LS dohc head. LS 5-speed manual. Everything works except stereo needs to be replaced. No emissions so in needs to be a Florida car (no testing). $2500 firm.

Probably cheaper to buy an rsx. The only reason to swap a k20 into an old car is if you absolutely love your chassis and want to keep it 5-10 years+.
as a swap will set you back $1000+, if you swap yourself.
$300 block
$200 transmission
$80 ecu
$80 harness
$400 mounts
$180 axles
might need knuckles/rotors/brake combo depending on your current car.
