higher revs
higher revs
Hello everyone, i'm currently trying to get everything together for an ek9 type r replica and i'm considering a k-series engine because they seem to be the best hybrid of fuel efficiency and power. My research indicates that they best engine is the acura tsx but i'd really like a high rev limit just like the original. any advice is welcome i'm still pretty new to honda tech!

Re: higher revs
The TSX has a K24, which is a bit taller than its K20 counterpart. K20 will have higher revs, but the k24 will have more torque
If you're considering k20-series, if you can find a K20A (JDM DC5-R/CTR engine), you'd get good power out of that. Stock rating is 212-217hp with about 150 ft-lbs torque.
K24, and looking at the TSX/Euro Accord-R engine, HP would be in the 200hp range with about 165ft-lbs torque.
Another option would be the Frankenstein K swap, which is a K24 block with a K20 head. From what I understand, it's like a torque-y K20. There was a member here that ran that, and untuned he was making something like 212whp untuned with an otherwise stock setup, and 232whp once he got tuned. I can't find the thread at the moment, but those are the numbers I remember after all these years. lol.
One thing to look out for with a k24 swap is the height of the block. Fitting it in the engine bay will be the obstacle to overcome. Even with the K20 head, where it decreases overall height by a bit, swapping the engine in the EM2 chassis still needed to adjust the mounting position of the engine by something like 4cm to get it to fit under the hood. I know you're swapping into an EK chassis, but just some food for thought.
