Yeah, unlike some people I actually did something...haha anyways yeah my first time to ever drag race, fun as hell. Cost me 15 bucks, I could do as many runs as I wanted to from 5:30 to 11 ish, but we had to leave around 7 so I got 9 runs in. I lost one of my time slips so I'm only posting 8 of them...all I have to say is it is hard as hell. The start is what killed me, I really could not get it down. Plus it being my first time to ever be at a track, I was really nervous. Oh well, alot of muscle cars were there, they were so freaking fast. Anyways, best time was like a 16.3 I think, fastest 1/4 speed was 85, and all my reaction times were above 1 sec! (except for like one or 2...) Yeah I need to work on that, but oh well I had so much fun.

Rep Power: 0 That is pretty good though. Especially for your first time. I Know how that nervous feeling is. Tonight was my first night at the track. We only have the 1/8 of a mile. My fastest was 10.86 at 64.38 mph. And my reaction time was in the .8's. I have a dx manual with and aem cai.

Rep Power: 0 Well, it looks like you did awesome! I'd say those times are hella good for the vic period! Do you have any mods? Plus, if you are having trouble launching, you will probably gain at least a few 1/10s of a second once you get some more practice.

Reaction time has nothing to do with your ET. I could sit at the tree for 10 minutes and still run a 14.X@10x.xx. Silly moderator.

Rep Power: 395 I know about how E/T and R/T are counted seperately, but I didn't know that the 1/4 mile time was the E/T. I thought that the 1/4 mile time was the E/T + R/T. You sure you know what you're talking about? I saw a neon at the tracks just sit there after the green for 30 seconds. Then the announcer told him to go anyway, so he floored it and a time of 40+ seconds lit up on the board. Now, does the board give you what is printed on the little time slip as the 1/4 mile time? If so, then you're wrong. If not, then I'm wrong. So the question is, what lights up on the board? Maybe different tracks do things differently as well? Rep Power: 0 ET standing for elapsed time starts after you cross the IR light trigger (similar to what stops your garage door from closing when you step under it). This is why staging deep or shallow effects your ET... and why sitting at the tree does not.

Rep Power: 0 I'd like to have a better reaction time, just to be a bettter driver. But yeah Joe is right, I guess some tracks are different though. The 1/4 time isn't related to my reaction time. Oh and about that 3 sec reaction time on slip 7, I was having trouble stagging and only 1 of the lights was on, but the yellows started coming on, and I didn't notice them, I was still looking for that 2nd stagging light.

ET is not affected by R/T
As for the neon you saw, he was probably staged deep and may have moved slightly starting his ET time. ET will start even if you go before the green lights up. so if he moved slightly on, say, the 2nd amber light, it would have started his ET.

Did you know about the staging light before I told you about them in your other thread??? Or was my advice actually worth something....

Rep Power: 0 your 1/4 mile time does not start until you break the start beams, you could have a 76.438 start, and run the same ET as you ran with a .501 light. Those times arent bad, gotta work on your 60' though, thats where you gain all your ET.

Rep Power: 0 Actually yeah I must say thanks to everybody who gave me advise, it really helped. I didn't feel totally lost out there. I kinda had a rough idea about the stagging light thing, but you helped me out. Thanks! So I need to improve my 60' time? What adive do you guys have to help me out next time? Oh and what tire pressure would u reccomend running on? I infalted them up to 40 psi. They were not the stock tires, they were Bridgestones, but stock size.
