Somebody actually acted on thier words (my 1/4 mile time slips)

Yeah, unlike some people I actually did something...haha anyways yeah my first time to ever drag race, fun as hell. Cost me 15 bucks, I could do as many runs as I wanted to from 5:30 to 11 ish, but we had to leave around 7 so I got 9 runs in. I lost one of my time slips so I'm only posting 8 of them...all I have to say is it is hard as hell. The start is what killed me, I really could not get it down. Plus it being my first time to ever be at a track, I was really nervous. Oh well, alot of muscle cars were there, they were so freaking fast. Anyways, best time was like a 16.3 I think, fastest 1/4 speed was 85, and all my reaction times were above 1 sec! (except for like one or 2...) Yeah I need to work on that, but oh well I had so much fun.

good job, you will do better next time =)

StreetTurbo 05-11-2002 04:04 AM

That is pretty good though. Especially for your first time. I Know how that nervous feeling is. Tonight was my first night at the track. We only have the 1/8 of a mile. My fastest was 10.86 at 64.38 mph. And my reaction time was in the .8's. I have a dx manual with and aem cai.

late:)

SilverSurf 05-11-2002 08:17 AM

Good job bro, its great to see people put their time slip where their mouth is! :)

civicpimpin01 05-11-2002 12:15 PM

:tup:good job, especially for your first time. Practice makes perfect

Grey 05-11-2002 12:43 PM

R/T sucks, you're right. That 16.5 is nice though, especially with that R/T.

Mbow 05-11-2002 02:36 PM

Well, it looks like you did awesome! I'd say those times are hella good for the vic period! Do you have any mods? Plus, if you are having trouble launching, you will probably gain at least a few 1/10s of a second once you get some more practice.

nbpEMCivic 05-11-2002 02:45 PM

sorry I kinda fell asleep last nite, it was a long day. Here's the rest of my slips

My mods are AEM CAI and crappy 2.25 custom exhaust piping and an Arospeed muffler....

chucky 05-11-2002 07:22 PM

congrats man. I've been meaning to run the 1/4 for a while now. I ran the 1/8 @ 10.9, and I ranit just like I run it on the street.:)

<< R/T sucks, you're right. That 16.5 is nice though, especially with that R/T. >>

Reaction time has nothing to do with your ET. I could sit at the tree for 10 minutes and still run a 14.X@10x.xx. Silly moderator.

Grey 05-11-2002 09:13 PM

I know about how E/T and R/T are counted seperately, but I didn't know that the 1/4 mile time was the E/T. I thought that the 1/4 mile time was the E/T + R/T. You sure you know what you're talking about? I saw a neon at the tracks just sit there after the green for 30 seconds. Then the announcer told him to go anyway, so he floored it and a time of 40+ seconds lit up on the board. Now, does the board give you what is printed on the little time slip as the 1/4 mile time? If so, then you're wrong. If not, then I'm wrong. So the question is, what lights up on the board? Maybe different tracks do things differently as well? JoeB16 05-11-2002 09:20 PM

ET standing for elapsed time starts after you cross the IR light trigger (similar to what stops your garage door from closing when you step under it). This is why staging deep or shallow effects your ET... and why sitting at the tree does not.

Slvr2k2 05-12-2002 01:06 AM

On Slip #7 your R/T was over 3 seconds...did you stall? or fall asleep?

Edit for spelling

nbpEMCivic 05-12-2002 11:59 AM

I'd like to have a better reaction time, just to be a bettter driver. But yeah Joe is right, I guess some tracks are different though. The 1/4 time isn't related to my reaction time. Oh and about that 3 sec reaction time on slip 7, I was having trouble stagging and only 1 of the lights was on, but the yellows started coming on, and I didn't notice them, I was still looking for that 2nd stagging light.

BIGLIMPDOG 05-12-2002 12:43 PM

well it is great to see that some peps can be nice here!! and i would love to post my 1/8 mile slips if i hade a scanner, is there any other way or if i sent them to someone could u do it for me! oh yeah at the track the other night there was a 4 door 2001 lx running 9.60's with nothing at alll but nitrous he had a 75 shot! Me and him raced and it was a very good race, it kind of pisses me off cause i have spent a lot more money on my car than he has but i also have no clutch!!!

<< R/T sucks, you're right. That 16.5 is nice though, especially with that R/T. >>

ET is not affected by R/T

As for the neon you saw, he was probably staged deep and may have moved slightly starting his ET time. ET will start even if you go before the green lights up. so if he moved slightly on, say, the 2nd amber light, it would have started his ET.

Did you know about the staging light before I told you about them in your other thread??? Or was my advice actually worth something....

Yeah, that's probably what happened. Okay, my bad.

black2k1vtec 05-12-2002 06:35 PM

your 1/4 mile time does not start until you break the start beams, you could have a 76.438 start, and run the same ET as you ran with a .501 light. Those times arent bad, gotta work on your 60' though, thats where you gain all your ET.

I hope you didnt take offense... I was just trying to show you what I meant.

nbpEMCivic 05-12-2002 08:54 PM

Actually yeah I must say thanks to everybody who gave me advise, it really helped. I didn't feel totally lost out there. I kinda had a rough idea about the stagging light thing, but you helped me out. Thanks! So I need to improve my 60' time? What adive do you guys have to help me out next time? Oh and what tire pressure would u reccomend running on? I infalted them up to 40 psi. They were not the stock tires, they were Bridgestones, but stock size.
