I want my 1999 Civic Si CPE back!

A while back I was between vehicles and decided to not rush into buying a new. So I put $3500 on a 1999 Honda Civic SI CPE in the mean time.

To my surprise I kept the car for a year and a half (only wanted it for 2 months at the most). It wasn't until I was rear-ended by a lady who claims I stopped too fast. The car was written off and I received $4400 for the value.

Anyway, bottom line, I'm in love with this car. The way it feels while driving, the way it looks (IMO, it's the only decent looking Civic) sporty but not flashy at the same time, and the reliability.

So I'm now on a mission to get another one. But I have concerns...

The cars available in my area are all kind of high in the mileage. I was thinking about replacing/rebuilding the engine. I would like to know peoples thoughts on this.

Is a rebuilt engine just a like a new one? Are there any problems that can occur with a recently rebuilt engine?

Are there any new engines that would be a quick swap for the old one (mounting brackets in the same place, fits in the space available, minimal modifications needed?
