MPG Contest?
Let's see what kind of MPG you guys are getting in your civics... All years included hybrids too.
On fuelly I'm currently averaging 33MPG. However this has increased to 38MPG since I've bought my Scangauge 2. Just haven't put anything on fuelly yet!
2005 honda civic EX 5 speed. Driving it like a grandma, for now.

Re: MPG Contest?
39 normally, 42 if I'm trying. I also had a bad 02 sensor that made me run super super lean and I was getting upwards of 50 with about half my normal power for a week or so lol.
Uncle owns a 02 LX sedan and he's into the hypermiling and stuff and according to him, he got up to 51 once.

I used to get ~34 mpg in my (mostly) stock '03 EX, but more recently it was closer to 26 mpg :-(. Changed the O2 sensors and now at least it's gone up to the 30 mpg range.

Re: MPG Contest?
Some nice mileages. I just did a city run ~5 miles and managed to average 39.5 MPG. I was really trying to keep it over 40 but there was no way. I was using every mileage increasing trick I knew.

Re: MPG Contest?
So I continue to experiment. My last tank was 40mpg (10.757gal/428.559 miles). I over inflated my tires to 35 psi and drove normally. Passed people when I wanted to and drove over 3000 rpm from time to time. Over inflating your tires so much severely impacts your handling and I never feel in control over 100 km/h and I'm quite sure it's doing bad things to my winter tire with the combination of 30C summer heat, lol. I don't recommend for pretty much zero gains....

I run normally 32 front and 36 rear on tires that are not so stiff sidewall.
wire reinforced ones i could run lower pressures, though.
28-32 city/HWY, 44 best ever. auto 01 was 42 best on hwy as well.

Re: MPG Contest?
I'm running stock tires on mine and Honda's recommendation is 30 psi front / 29 rear. With a digital gauge I went 35 all around. Keep in mind they are 4 year old Canadian Tire - Arctic Claws being run in summer condition - probably a huge factor in mileage gains (and handling for that matter).
Re: MPG Contest?
My 2005 ranks 49mpg on the straightaways-even fully loaded with luggage and air on. All around is about 34 (my fault though) Being too conservative tends to irritate others especially if I stop 10ft behind someone that moves ahead -and I refuse to budge. Took a ride down a mountain side (up and down) and made every crest and valley in neutral. No doubt the low roll friction plays a large roll in the mileage aside from being a hybrid. Love this machine.
Re: MPG Contest?
01 EX Auto my best is 34 hwy I mean 99% hwy I drive 90 Miles a day to work. I read here that are some getting way over my 34. I dont have any engine codes
Any thing I can do to improve the Mileage ?

Re: MPG Contest?
'99 Civic Auto DX, 31MPG average. I try my best such as tricking the computer to shift early, locking up the transmission but still only 31MPG average. Some city, some highway. Upper grille block.
I can get 35MPG with all highway easily 60-65MPH.
One of the things that hurts MPG with the auto tranny is the computer will prevent the transmission from locking up until the engine coolant has heated up! Wish there was a safe reliable way to trick it into behaving normally from the get go.

Re: MPG Contest?
if you put in neutral, fuel injection will throw more gas to keep engine running, so using more gas.
