Rep Power: 219 The new 2013 Civic Quick Review -- Motortrend
Ok, I found the new sedan's review.
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...c_quick_drive/
"So what happened with the 2012 model? Honda says it miscalculated market demand. Since the model was developed during the American financial crisis, Honda executives believed consumers would accept lower-quality cars so long as they were fuel-efficient and affordable. That didn't turn out to be the case, as competitors launched a range of compacts with expanded feature lists and improved quality (think Focus, Cruze, Elantra, etc.)." -- motortrend
After I read this paragraph, I am stunted. At least, they acted quickly to solve their mistakes. And the sticker price is raised too $18,355. Darn it.

I do not like the 9th gen...
It's like they took an 8th gen and covered it with lumps of Play-Doh.
The '13 face lift version is a bit better, but I still can't see myself ever wanting one...
Luckily, there's still hope for the new Type-R though

It's not a Ferrari, it doesn't need a flappy paddle gearbox.
I like the new Civic's compared to other new cars but I still prefer the older body style civics from 7th gen back. Im not sure how I feel about the direction car design is going these days.

CVT is for efficiency and the industry is going to it. Jeep, Subaru already use them on some models. But to appease people who like to shift, paddle shifters allow it.

This angle doesn't look too bad.

guys relax. its a civic. its not suppose to have all the bells and whistles and paddle shifters... its made for a low end eco-box market (with the exception of the SI).

Guys the new Direct Injection Engine and the CVT is currently available on the new 2013 Accord. The 2014 Plug-in Hybrid Accord is very nice too. I wonder how much the Plug In Accord will cost. Now, it could run on electric motor for up to 15 miles (motortrend). Honda advances so slow in hybrid area compared to Toyota but at least we will definitely see it coming.

nver going to drive a hybrid. batteries are the worst way to go.
more toxic than gas fumes, and lower energy per volume, heavy too ...
give me CNG, diesel(mazda going to have it) or hi rpm gas 4-cyl any day.

Yup the paddle shifters let the CVT emulate an automated manual (dual dry clutch) transmission for the people who like a simulated direct connection between RPM and speed. It'll bring in more customers (appease the manual die hards) who hate CVTs when they realize the rubber band can be like a manual. I have no idea if the future Civic will have paddles like the '13 Accord
