fuel filter replacement on 98 civic?

Hi all just want to replace the fuel filter on my 98 civic ex. It looks pretty straight forward but I have 2 concerns. Is the system pressurized and how to depressurize it? Im told just undoing the gas cap and hearing the air is enough? Im also told to disconnect one end of the battery? Does either make sense? Just dont want gas being pumped from the tank while I disconnect and replace the fuel filter. Thank you!

You could take the fuse out for the fuel pump and run the engine until it dies to relieve fuel pressure. Or, just make sure everything is completely cold and slowly loosen the fuel filter connections, letting it drip until pressure is 0.

No need to remove battery connections, just make sure the key stays out of the ignition.
