Well the guy in the Audi deserved that redneck handshake because he was being such a wimp. "Oh my car is so pretty, I'm not going to go through a flooded street!" Fun seeing the cars bypass the police roadblock, I guess I would've done the same thing. I figure if the water is pretty high, but not high enough to get to the spark plugs, pop the hood and aim the air intake tube straight up to make a snorkel. Maybe put some duct tape around the spark plugs wires on the block.
