1992 civic- nightmare

My son has a 92 civic, we had it towed home, because it left him sit, acted like the fuel pump went bad. Replaced the pump and filter, and nothing changed. Replaced the whole distributor. Would start after 20 attempts and would idle great, until it got to 3k., Then replaced the main relay.. Did not help. Reading no codes. Please Help!!

Re: 1992 civic- nightmare

ecm is under the passenger side kick panel. If your sitting in the passenger seat, its by your right small toe. that kick panel right there, remove it and youll find the ecm. Those rarely go bad. You wont get any codes with a code scanner if you have one of those, youll have to jump the service connector and read it that way.

If it's shutting off at 3k rpm then it sounds like it could be a CKP or a CYP sensor. Nevermind, the CYP sensor is in the dizzy and you changed that so I'd focus on a CKP maybe? if I'm not mistaken the ECM should be a code p28? Could be wrong, been years since I messed with one that old, if it is a p28 your going to pay for another one since those go PRIMO on the market.... google "how to read obd1 codes civic" give that a try, (also make sure there is actually a bulb in the MIL socket as kids, i included, take them out sometimes)

Re: 1992 civic- nightmare

After changing the main relay we are now not getting any spark. The car will not start now. I have had several mechanics look at this thing to no avail.. We are at our wits end, have no idea what it could be, Any suggestions would be great... Thanks Again check engine light is not on and reading no codes???

I wasn't ignoring your post, it turned out to be the distributor. I bought a new one last week from auto zone and apparently it was defected, exchanged for a new one and it fired right up...

Drove great, then the next day the timing belt broke...

wow, you and those mechanics checked the car out to find why it wasn't running and never looked at the timing belt.. figured you would've seen it was bad while you were in the process; either way sorry for your luck.

auto zone parts bad?! no way!?
