Usually, if the cop shows and you've got no legal way out ... then just admit guilt and apologize ... you may get a reduced sentence ... better then nothing

Dude tell the judge your situation and plead no contest. Trust me I have 2 speeding and one traffic (red light) on my license. My first ticket was 85 in a 55. The sentence was supposed to be 1 year liscense suspension, 30 days in jail and $250 fine plus $45 court costs. Also it was four points on my license. But the judge let me off with a $125 fine and only 2 points on my license. Good luck man.

Calm down Grasshopper. I don't know about where you are, but last time I got a ticket, the attorney offered to reduce my sentence before I even got to speak to a judge. So you may not even have to worry. But if this doesn't happen, just admit guilt; judges respect that.

even with the cop there???

what does no contest really mean??? i'm in canada

and what excuses did you use to get it that low????

that i'm in school and that if my insurance goes up because of this ticket i might have to take my car off the road and wont be able to go to work or school???

think that is a good excuse???

but i wanna know what no contest really means??? so that i dont go to the front and say NO CONTEST or does it mean innocent???hmm

Give me more details man.. how fast were you going in a what was the speed limit? I mean.. really, there's not much you can do but admit it and if you have a clean record you may get lucky depending on how hard your judicial system is where you live... You could ask the cop, in court, if his equipment is calibrated... i think he would have to show proof that it is to the judge b/c sometimes cops f-up too. lemme know.

ok it was on the highway OPP (like highway patrol in tha US) the cop isn't a jerk at all since he lowered the ticket for me already i know i should have gone to court but i just had to it's stated at 149 in a 100 so i didn't loose my licence and it was at 5am which is club time i was just trying to get my *** home because i was tired as f#ck and needed my bed i for sure was speeding and didn't even put up any anger only reason why i sent it to court was because i was broke at the time and didn't ahve no damn job and couldn't be missing school for these type of things. ......then i got pulled over again like 2weeks later but that isn't on my record because it was a summons ...and i got a court date in AUGUST the other cops said they wanted to f#ck me up bold face and gave me a hefty summons for bull$hit on my moms car from florida damn jerks like TINTS and INSURANCE (which there was got the paper in my wallet waiting as evidence)

yeah, don't try to be a hero within the judical system, they frown on that and lock you up. just say guilty and ask for a reduction if the judge doesn't give you one anyway. oh, and about the cop not showing up, don't count on it pal, it's their job to show up to court at least once a week to stand in front of the judge and speak against everyone else he gave a ticket too, not just you.

ya that is what i was thinking.........

should i wait till they call me up to tha front just to see if the cop shows up at the end??

or should i go at the begining and talk to the crown and ask if i can get it reduced???
what happens when the cop doesn't show up do they tell me or do i still gotta go to the front?

Chill...I've gotten 6 tickets in Metro..
This is whats most likely gonna happen..
when you walk in to the court, your gonna have to sign in, at that time they should tell you that as long as your willing to pay the fine or the the reduced fine they wont dock you any points.
The only time i've been screwed was at city hall downtown.
There i just told the judge some B.S that i was gonna hurl and had to get home...
You were goin pretty fast so i dont know if they'll be so leniant..
Remember just relax..dont stutter and make up some oscar winning LIE!!
You dont wanna waste there time and vice versa...Get there EARLY so you can negotiate

It was Already reduced!! damn...this is DEEP..That usually means they dont wanna come to court...and if they do on a reduced ticket they'll screw you large!!
Now the only thing i can say is to let them know you needed more time to pay...make up some sad story about student loans..osap and rising tuition costs....
and how you were coming home from your late shift at tim hortons or some sh-t.
Good luck

In my experiance your gonna have to pay..you cant run...worry about the points more then the $$$...you dont want your insuarance to go insane...
just pay in installments....talk to the judge...dont rely on the cop nor showing..

i'm not gonna rely on that because i know it's a slim chance especially in my area DURHAM .....damn cops have nothing better to do .......pluss it's OPP

i'm gonna talk to the procecutor and see what he can do for me but the thing is that i dont wanna put this on my record if the cop
doesn't show up beccause even if there is a slim chance i wanna keep that in mind.......i wanna make sure that the cop shows up
before i break deals because why pay if i dont have to you know what i'm sayin......

does the cop even have to be there for the case to get thrown away i was seeing that he reduced it so that did mean he didn't wanna go to court
maybe he wont show better sign of him not showing......so should i wait till the last minute and sign in and ask the procecutor if the cop showed up ?

like what is the process to see if the case gets thrown away?? who do i talk to ....and what makes it get thrown away???

The only way its thrown out is if the cop dont show..
The reduced fine could mean two things to you..
Opp guys are mad busy and they dont want to trek down to where you are ..BUT because he already redcuced it and now sees your goin to court he could end up coming in on a vengence...Be careful.

Dont wait till the last minute to sign in cuz then the judge could walk in and screw your plan and NEVER NEVER ask if the cop has showed up he could be standing next to you and you never want to look like an *** in a courtroom full of pigs..

I got nabbed on the way to Chicago by an OPP he told me upfront the R on the ticket means "reduced" dont waste my time goin to court! which meant only a fine no points..
I payed what choice did i have.

PLay it cool and see how the mood is in the courtroom and be nice to the clerk taking attendence...Let me know how i goes...
Get ready to pay at least a portion..just keep emphasizing your a student and wear the worst set of clothes you got....LOok Poor as hell

First of all, now, it is not a way off it the cop fails to show anywmore. That no longer works. The prosecution will simply adjourn and summon the officer again. Speak with the prosecutor--in some states it is the cop that wrote you, in others, it is a separate attorney representing the jurisdiction. See if they can plea it down for you, usually if you have a decent record, something can be worked out.

As for the "courtroom full of pigs" comment, we prefer to be called police officers. Thank you.
