03 civic runs for 3 seconds then dies

Hello i just replaced the head gasket , timing belt, and water pump. All the connectors are pluged in timing is set perfect there is fuel and spark. The car would turn on and run great for about 2 seconds then just die out , sounds like the fuel would get cut off. Then you can start it again and same thing runs for 2 seconds then cuts right out. All the grounds are good and clean.

Is your CEL (check engine light) on?

Crank position sensor connection is good. No check engine lights. Im thinking something to do with security.

The immobilizer shouldn't have tripped with any of the work you've described.

Hook up an OBD2 scanner to see if there are any stored codes in the ECU, a CEL light isn't always activated, especially if the engine isn't able to run.

No codes what so ever.

so far from the other forum ..

EG_SINZ put some gas in it u NEVER know
its got lots of gas..

No solution there..

Nicotine aftermarket fuel rail?....
everything oem

ivan checek your crank sensor
there might be some coolant spilled into the connector
clean it out before you cause some big damages
its clean no coolant in it

arc_55 A very big problem with these cars is the alternator grounds on its mounting locations. The alternator gets loose and causes voltage spikes taking out the ecm causing rough running, stalling, security light, and many other things.

I have replaced the ecm on one of these cars before along with the alternator. This seems to be a common problem with these cars.
i guess that's the next step..

b20ek Immobilizer issue.
No security light flashing.

The only odd thing i would find is that there is no fuel in the return line.

Hmmm...

A single loose ground connection can cause many problems, just yesterday someone here had a ton of sensor codes from one bad ground. Check those.

I'll think about this tonight and hopefully I get an idea.

Cleaned both the wire harness ground by upper rad hose. And also the body ground by it.
