transmission problem

i have a 98 honda civic
and when the shift D4 is flashing don't shift
what it can be?
I think is the pcm because that ligth go to the computer.
can somebody help???

I'd say go have AAMCO check it out.

They rebuilt the tranny on my old car after a shop messed it up during the 60k mile service. It's been running great for the last 40k since then.

there are a ton of things a flashing D can mean. they can diagnose it further to a specific issue but usually its nothing that requires a full rebuild. could just be a bad shift solenoid.

For ***** and giggles I'd say changing the transmission fluid. It'll cost you 20 bucks. Drain and put 4 fresh qts. in. I did this and it solved my trany issues. Make sure to use Honda specific fluid. You can get it at Advanced Auto. You'd be amazed on how much better the car will be!
