<< gotta love a car that has the possiblilty to catch on fire at any time....

but its your $$$ so whatever
>>

The engine fire problem was mainly in the 84 Fiero. Bad connecting rods, leaky valve covers and low engine oil lead to premature engine failure. The bad rods would blow through the block, dumping oil onto the cat or hot exhaust manifold and catch on fire. Pontiac had a recall to remove the rubber trunk water deflector, so that their was little flammable material available. Pontiac also replaced many 2.5s with similiar quality engines. The later year Fieros (85-88) had some what better quality 2.5 engines installed, and altered the placement of the deck ventilation grates, but the reputation that the Fiero caught fire was in peoples minds. The 2.8 engines did not have fire problems, but the name Fiero did. Sale plummeted and the rest is history.

If later vintage Fieros are well maintained, even if the recall wasn't done, should not have any problem

LOL, they replaced it with "similiar quality" engines. Now that was a smart executive decision.

WHY DID I SWAP A V6????? Did you know fieros CAME with a 6? The reason is because I like the looks of the ingraved "FIERO" intake plenum. And the engine looks STOCK (except turbo) BUT, its a 3.4, NOT a 2.8! So I have a 3.4l motor that looks like a stock 2.8. Plus I like V6s, any other questions??????

WHY DIDNT I PUT IN A 350 SBC?? Why didnt I put in a LT1? Or an LS6? Because I dont like all of the extra wieght of an SBC in the back. My car now will hang, even beat some, Fieros with SBCs in them, yet itll handle better.

I never said a Z06 wouldnt beat me! Your stupid man, shut up, before you really get on my nerves! Why dont I get another fiero and put the motor from the Z06 in there, still wanna race? Dumba$$.
