odometer question

The other day when i went to get my car checked for the 10k mile thing, i noticed that on the mileage box it said

Mileage in/out
10139/10141

what the heck is that supposed to mean? its been asked a million times before but nobody really has had an answer but is there something else on the car that keeps the mileage just in case someone takes the odometer apart so it stops counting miles? im not planning on doing it but im just curious.

milage in - miles on odometer when u dropped it off
milage out - miles when you pick it up and drive it off.

My mi and mo have always been the same- on both my hondas- looks like someone went for a 3 or 4 mile joyride with your car.

I would think it is how many miles were on the car when you took it in, and how many were on it when you picked it up.

well it depends on what you took in it for because sometimes if you take it in for somethings, they take the car out to "recreate the problem".
