How's my 3D Civic coming along ?
Due to the lack of real power increasing mods for our cars, I decided to put my time into this instead.
Start your comments. Somehow it looks a bit strange. Something is still not right about it and I'm not sure what. Apart from the 'empty' headlights and unfinished taillights. And I also want different rims on it. I'll continue to work on it. Rice it up a bit perhaps

Man that looks awsome! but the front looks a little stretched. try moving the front bumper closer to the wheels, and giving it for of a flat look. it look great!!

Yeah, the only problem I see is that the front end from the end of the hood forwards looks a little too forward projected.
Anyone else think that after he finishes this it would be a dope platform to see what various exterior mods will look like, or paint jobs that aren't stock, to show what they'd look like? A world of possibilities with a 3d model. GJ Thx1138!!

<< Looks like he used lightwave to me. Nice job im still figuring out how to model a car....
How'd you now that ?
It's Lightwave alright. But you could use about every program that uses Nurbs or Spline Patches. What you really need is a good blueprint with side/front/rear views. I only had photo's, which tend to distort the dimensions, so I had to do more guessing and tweaking. My neighbours were probably thinking, "Now why's he lookin' at his car again. " Thanx for the comments guys. I've got some input now. The lower rear bumper needs to come out more like LilCivicKidd said. And the front is too long/big/wide. I realise now what defines the look or face of a car. Very much like the human face. A simple resize or widening can complete change a car and make it either ugly or very cool. A lot easier in 3D than in the body shop, and if you don't like it simply hit undo.
I'll keep posting a few updates when I create something substantially better/different. And those colors Strych was talking about are on my list. Barf Green, BumbleBee Yellow and Barbi Pink.

OMG
i love that, is that an expensive program that you used? where can i get it? i have a lot of free time, especially when i'm at work, i wouldn't mind trying to do something like that in my spare time. what are the requirements for that program?

<< What kind of light did you use. Radiosity? >>
Yep. Takes a lot longer to render than simple lighting but it's worth it.
BTW the creators Newtek used to have a downloadable demo version, but it seems to be gone. Perhaps you can contact them for a CD or something. They recently cut the price for the full version down by $900, so now it's $1595. So it's either getting a new set of rims/suspension or get Lightwave.
And for everyone that wants to have a try at building a 3D car, could luck, but be sure what you're getting into. There's no create car button in Lightwave. It might just be me but it looks like where the hood meets the side panel could by smoother/rounder.
It looks very sweet, I may have to download that program and learn it(about to major in graphic design)
How tough is it to teach yourself that kind of stuff? I've used programs like 3d studio but i never got enough into it.
Hope my input helps.
Keep up the good work
