How jacked up is this?
I don't know if this is just a California think or if this is everywhere but, the dealerships out here require a deposit to test drive a Civic SI. That's just stupid you need to put a down payment to test drive a car that costs $19,000. Go figure it's Honda.
That's retarded. I better not have to put a deposit down just to drive the thing. I was going today to check it out. I'll be pissed.

My credit is great. It has nothing to do with credit. They require a $1,000 deposit to test drive the Oddesy (sp?) you can't test drive the S2000 at all you have to buy it before you can drive it. And now they are saying that you need to put down a $500 to test drive the SI. The dealership said since they mark them up $2000 over MSRP no one gets to drive them. I told them that's a bunch of bull ****
all they wanted from me is a copy of my drivers liscense along with proff of my insurance agency and the salesman gave me some facts about the car I already knew. Then I was off...

i would say 'do you want to sell the car or not?' then if they still wouldnt i would ask to talk to a manager and if they said the same thing i would tell them to sell it to someone else and i would put in a complaint with american honda, since im sure they want to sell the car and send the dealer another one, not lose a customer/sale because a dealer is being g@y
that is retarded it shouldn't be that way although the s2000 i have heard that at every honda dealership i've been to but i would tell them that i had freinds that wanted to but a new si and that i was to be the first and that they just lost my sale and about 6 others they usually change there mind fast. and then i would still file a complaint against them to american honda to screw them for tring to extort 500 bucks from me
Luckily, when I bought my civic, my good friend works as a salesman at a Honda dealer. He let me test drive the S2000 even though he knew I had no intention of buying it. I test drove an IS300 and the salesman made me buy him a soda in return he would let me test drive it. Your dealer has it too good. They're trying to discourage anyone who isn't already sold. A few years ago, some dealers in my area wouldn't drop $1 below the M.S.R.P because the demand was so high. Think about what other dealers do (auctions!) when they get a "hot" car, like the ZR-1 Vette, VW Beetle and the PT Cruiser when they first came out. Try a dealer from the suburbs or one that's a little hungry for biz. Call ahead and make an appt. you'll appear more serious than just walking in. I know it's B.S. but whaddya gonna do?
