bought myself a project car
bought myself a project car
well one of my friends is movin back to kansas city a month before i do and i bought his car off of him for 250$. its an 89 crx with a b18 motor. it needs a lot of work (brakes have to be pumped to stop, no windshield wipers at all, missing window and pretty much gutted interior. so for 250$ its a good deal i think and ill start putting money into that bc its still much faster then my 02 civic. ill have pictures up when i pick it up this week prolly. oh yeah its not registered and to tregister it (in the great state of cali
) u have to pass smog. there is no way its passing right now. intake is duct taped to the tb and i dont even know how to explain the exhaust system. any ideas what i could do to get it to have a chance at passing, was thinkin about a new intake and a complete oem exhaust system (with cat
)..for now. idk ideas?

Re: bought myself a project car
not bad for 250$. i'm assuming its an LS motor, not a GSR right?
i say if you're serious about keeping the car, i'd replace parts with performance instead of OEM parts, otherwise you'll just end up spending more in the end. but first and formost, i'd get the necessary things done before you even bother registering the car. brakes are pretty important, so i'd start with that and work my way up to make it even streetable (windows) before touching anything performance related.
good luck.

nice. yeah b series engines can take a lot of power/abuse. yeah work on the important things first, like brakes and getting it to pass smog first. if you do replace parts do what daily driver said and get performance parts so your not spending twice as much. cant wait for pics, keep us updated
