Re: tinted tails WAY TO DARK!!

try isopropyl alcohol and a cluth but it may take a while. the plus is it wont ruin the plastic like thinner would. dont sand it will look terrible, but if youre painting again maybe it wont matter. or get some new ones on ebay and just use some lighter tint film.

Re: tinted tails WAY TO DARK!!

you are pretty much going to have to take the tint off and re do it. I did the same thing at one point. I used Goof Off Graffiti remover to take it off. It all came off really fast and didnt ruin the plastic. You can buy it at Home Depot. I recommend the vinyl film though. It looks so much cleaner than the spray.

yeah i forgot to mention, dont use window tint or anything, use vinyl it will last a long time without peeling. check headlightarmor.com i think they make cutouts for our cars.

Re: tinted tails WAY TO DARK!!

Hey, I had the same problem. Tinted them way too dark. When I push my brake lights at night, they are as bright as how the normal lights were at night before i tinted them.

I have tried to get a brighter watt bulb. we run 5 watt bulbs right now stock, the only company out there making a brighter bulb is piaa, they make a 8 watt bulb for 13.99 for the pair. Not sure how better it will improve our problem, but it has to improve it at least a little.

The only reason I am concerned for this problme is that if someone rear ends us, they could blame it on our lights and i think it will be our fault.

In conclusion, I think I am going to order the piaa lights, see how much it improves it, and if it doestn help, then I will probably use a little thinner to take off some of the paint while the lights are on at night, then when i feel they are light enough, I think I am just going to RE CLEAR COAT THEM ONLY. and the clear coat should cover up any sand scratches or swirls i get from stripping the paint. What are your thoughts on the last paragraph, keep in touch, we should really solve this problem for cops messing with us but for at fault accident sake.

Re: tinted tails WAY TO DARK!!

Dont use thinner. and yes your lights need to be visible, as well as the reflector inside the tail lights

Re: tinted tails WAY TO DARK!!

if coupes use a 7440 bulb for brake, you can use the raybrig 2x hyper clear. clear bulb, 2x brighter than stock. they only make that size tho, and w5w which are the mini wedge.
