New Si owners might have a problem going turbo as well..

As I was reading over an article at the TOV, I read this-

"Resin Fuel Tank
The 2002 Civic Si incorporates a blow-molded, four-layer resin fuel tank for reduced weight, increased capacity, improved safety, and reduced emissions. Capacity is maximized because the resin tank can be molded to fit around other components. The Civic Si also incorporates a non-return fuel sypply system that helps reduce emissions from vapor loss."

As I understand it, the non-return fuel system is one of the problems for the coupe's Turbo...looks like a wrench has been thrown in the gears for the Si as well.

Great info NeoMagus, with the rsx having the same type of returnless fuel system as we do and the type-s having the aftermarket companies' attention, chances will be good that the techonology for a turbo that overcomes the problems of the fuel system for the rsx will be applicable in most ways (hopefully) to our 7th gen civics

there still the problem that the fuel system may be different between the D and K series motors.

They may fix it for the K series motors thru a new fuel rail or such, but there motor has a high popularity towards performance (Si, Type S etc)...which means there still might be the problem for 7th gen owners and there D blocks.

Well maybe Turbo is not always the way to go. But they might find a way around it, or people will just go NA.

A lot of the F/I Foci are having the same problem. People are adding larger capacity injectors and even a 5th enjector in the intake manifold but the limitations of the returnless fuel system are still there.

There have been a few people who have put in higher capacity fuel pumps and I think a couple who have custom return fuel systems. Probably within a year or 2 there will be return fuel system kits avaailable as the number of turbo and supercharger kits increases.

I'm sure the aftermarket will step in for the 7th gen Civic as well.

It will happen eventually, don't worry. Come on, it is a civic. Especially in the si's case, it will happen.

Well, Greddy and HKS are just about done with their turbos for the RSX TypeS, and since they (RSX, RSX-S, Si) all have the same family of engine (K20) the variants shouldn't be that much. Checked out the new Si today BTW, very nice. Love the shifter. Like Neo said, hardly squat for room in the bay, but there is some towards the rear of it, just would be hard to wrench on back there.
