Parking ticket.

I let my sister barrow my car for a few hours and she brings it back home.
I noticed a sticker has been removed from driver side window. I went and
asked her what it was and she said it was a parking ticket.

Now im wondering if this will affect me at all. Will this be considered my ticket
or are they handled differently?

Parking tickets are usually applied to the registered owner of the vehicle. I wouldn' tell her this, but it basically your responsability (considering the car is registered to you). Your in luck though, because it is a non-moving violation. It won't go on your record at all. The only way it will affect you is if you/she doesn't pay it. Just make her pay it, and you'll be cool!!! They can't put it on your drivnig record because the really don't know who was driving (a major requirement for a ticket). But it was your car that was illegally parked.. its basically like window tint or a loud stereo. It doesn't mean that your a bad driver, therefore it doesn't affect your record. Its just a way of traffic control and for them to make money.

It wont affect your driving record or anything as long as you pay it. My suggestion would be to pay it right away because if you dont then the price goes up, if its anything like where I live the ticket is $7 for one week and then if not paid in that time it jumps up to $50.
So just pay for it and get it out of the way and then give the recipt to your sister and get it back from her.

Good Luck

and also depending on where you live, you might not beable to renew your insurance
when it expires if you don't pay the ticket off..
The state or city might issue a summon also for you to pay it. (summon means small court)

where was she parked illegally? law enforcement NEVER uses those stickers, only private properties (apartments, churches, etc.) or rent-a-cops use them. just forget about it and never take the car back there

i've never received one of those ridiculous stickers personally, but i've seen them on many cars driving around minneapolis... and all i can say is that its a lawsuit waiting to happen. sure, you may have been parked in an area they determined "illegal", but they have no LEGAL authority. i'm just waiting to see somebody sue after being broadsided at an intersection because they couldn't see due to the sticker being there... or someone suing for vandalism... that'll teach 'em not to put stickers on your car!

Those stickers are usually applied by rent-a-cop or security personnel who are civilians and have no legal authority. If you received a summons charging you with a particular parking violation, it is considered a notice of liability (NOL), and applies to the registrant (owner) of the vehicle and will not appear on anyone's driving record. These will say at the top "The People of the State of New York (or any state) V. the person or registered owner of the vehicle described below." As someone else pointed out, the stickers do not have any legal authority implied. On another note, I caught someone just about to sticker my drivers window at a shopping center and told them if they'd like me to arrest them for criminal mischief to continue to do what they are doing. Stickers should not be used at all for the reasons that bhayes described...obscures operators view and has the potential to damage the car.

I love having a cop on these boards. It gives you another perspective on things.

btw, I got one of those stupid stickers before. it was just a warning though. it was hard as heck to get off too.

Yeah, they use them at apartments, shopping centers, private lots, etc. People don't seem to realize that due to the fact that it takes a considerable amount of time and effort to remove the stickers, it can be construed as a property crime.....

We have a parking lot attendant at my school, "the golf cart lady" and she put one of those stickers on my car the week after I got it. I went into the school and told her that she needed to go remove the sticker from my car or I would press charges for vandalism- she removed it and washed all my windows, hehe. We have a cop at school too and he told her she needed to quit using those things or she would run into legal trouble with somebody.

Yeah I would pay the ticket and not worry about cause it was just some wanna be cop who couldnt pass the test .... anyway some clown at the building security where my girlfried works put one on her car and you can tell when they just use there hand to put it on or if they get a quarter and make sure it sticks on there really good.... well thats what this jackass did.... lets just say I went up there in uniform one day and we had a talk and I advised him I better not see another one of those on her car I dont car if she parks right in front of the door.... it was funny to see him start to stutter and make excuses

LOL...security guards that think they are police officers are quite amusing...they don't even like to be called "security guard" and more...it's now "security enforcement officer," or "security officer"...lol.

Maverick...back in my high school days we had a golf-cart lady as well that would check all of our cars.
