Why engine mods?
I have a question about engine mods... I'm also thinking about either getting intake and exaust or upgrade my I.C.E...
I mean.. our civics have only have 115-127 stock (LX for me!!) I was just wondering.. how much performance can you gain from Intake & exaust? I drove my friend's 2k1 civic Ex.. and compared with my LX... but I can't feel any difference in accel or speed... and we took off at the red light... and came up to 60 mph at same rate... (both stock!!)
does intake & exaust make a real difference? or is it worth while to upgrade in I.C.E and be happy with it?
Need your opinions please...
some enlightenment....
can you feel added speed & power after getting intakes and exaust?

Engine mods are now nothing more but cosmetics to our cars... and you sometimes can get a kew sound from the intake and exhaust. Everyone should know traditionally, intake-headers-exhaust should do something to your car but for our Civics, the D block is now an Ultra economy class car. If you're gonna depend on the aftermarket, or any type for forced induction, you're gonna have to be patient... or get a much older car and put your money into it... and that's always a fun thing to do.

How much power could we get from intake and exaust? when driving... can it give you some head start against stocks? and add power for uphill driving? around here.. there are too many hills.. I feel my civic running out of breath everytime i go up a hill..
is intake & exaust worth it?

heh heh
there are numerous threads that have a lot of detail, im trying to be nice and stop the SEARCH!!! flame, so i'll just nicely suggest that you click SEARCH and search all the forums for intakes, exhaust, etc... there are some detailed threads out there
To be honest, Honda Tuning did a test. A real test with Dynos and everything. The DC Sports combo got a whopping 8 hp. So it makes it look nicer, makes it sound nicer, but really is not the huge 1000 dollar upgrade it was in the older Civics.
Our car is a reliable, cool looking, cost efficient, clean air (ULEV), fun to customize vehicle. Some day, turbos will exist, and there is the total full monty which may get it up to 200 or so horsepower. But nothing bolt on, and nothing that aint gonna void the crap out of that awesome warranty.
My Honda dealer will do all the bolt on mods, all the suspension, but none of the FI or computer stuff. Still, they give me no crap about warranty and even replaced a strut with Sportlines on them. So who can really complain.
I say for now, get the I.C.E. and enjoy cruising a little bit slower. Our cars are not fast, but they aint dogs either. Plus I am not paying for a 30,000 dollar car or sucking gas.
It handles better with the suspension, stops better with the brakes, and someday when it is old and out of warranty, it may be a lot faster. But I love my car.

I wouldn't care how much gas money i would have to pump in to my car as long as its fast!!
I would jus drive it less
buy another car for my day to day driving
but for night time, i ll bring out my lil speed demon!
