Help me with winter beater purchase

My friend has a 1991 accord that he wants to sell me. I dunno bout your area, but around here, a descent 1991 accord will go for 1500+ (canadian), used car dealerships will sell them for 2500+. My friend will accept 500$ for his, BUT there is one thing that worries me

The car is automatic and has a bad kick/jerk when it switches gears. Upshifting and downshifting. Thing is, it doesnt slip, its just a jerk. Is it something to worry about? The car won't be driven hard at all considering it will be in the winter months and used for my deliveries so driven very lightly and slow speeds

lol yeah but its plently of small problems the reason he is selling it so cheap. just the tranny that was worrying me. like example tho, you cant use the key to start the car. you have to turn the key to the on position, then pop the hood, and he set up a wire in such a way you just have to touch the battery pole with it to start
