Q about air conditioning....

My a/c has grenaded on my 91 Civic DX 4 door. I read all about recharging, R12, R134a, etc....& I KNOW about the possibility of wrecking my compressor b/c new stuff won't lubricate compressor as the old R12....

but...WHO really cares anyway...it AINT werking ANYWAY so really, it doesn't matter, right? I even read a mechanics thoughts on this (online) that he's added new stuff to OLD pre-90's cars' a/c's & had very few complaints about compressors being burnt out, so I am will to give it a TRY.

Q: any body HERE do this with NO compressor issues? ANY thoughts on this appreciated.

... (cuz I aint forkin out $500 to convert my old, but reliable $500 winter beater to new R. I know I know that the new freon is not as COLD as the OLD freon stuff...but SOMEthing would be better than nothing....)

Re: Q about air conditioning....

Hondas info for 91 Civic mentions Sanden brand compressor as ok to convert but says nothing about why other brand compressor should not be converted.

You got nothing to lose, go for it.
