i would bring it to a paint shop, they will most likely patch/spray it or tell you if you need a bumper. i'd stay away from touch up paint, especially on a new ride

Could it be from a shopping cart? Need to park far far away...

Sorry to hear that.

Even more reason why I am considering a 2-3 year old Civic EX so I don't have to go through that first ding trauma!

i had a nasty dent on my front bumper. it was on the front bumber near the bottom of the passenger's side. i pulled the front clip off heated the plastic bumper with a hair dryer and popped the dent out. then i used touch up paint and a wet sand fine grit sand paper to cover the scratches. this produced great results. you're talking about a gouge missing not a dent right? on this you need to take a trip to your hardware store and get a fiberglass or bondo patch kit. follow the steps for the fiber glassing to hide the hole. then if you're confident enough to use touchup paint, wet sand sand paper and a buffer it should hide it nicely.

This is very true. Don't park near the front entrance or shopping carts. I saw an old lady push a cart into someone else's car so she didn't have to deal w/ putting back.
