pinstripes
i did a search and found nothing, so i'm gonna ask my stupid question anyway....
will my dealership take my pinstripe off for free even though it's been 6 months since i bought the car or will i have to do it myself, and if so, what's the best way??? i did hear somewhere that a hairdryer and a razor blade would work but...a razor blade? i don't trust that getting close to my paint

If your dealership won't do it for free, then yes do the hairdryer but DON'T use a razor blade, try your fingernail after you have heated the end of the stripe up. Hope you don't have any fade lines, you may of wished you kept them on!!!

hmmmm...i've only had it for six months but it's a 2k1 so i'm not sure how long it was on the lot when i bought it also. it's silver, so fade lines might not be too bad....i don't know, thanks for the reply though
- kori, i live in stl and there was one day here during this past winter where it was lik 60 degrees outside. i just took my fingernail and slowed peeled the pinstripe off. took my like 5 minutes to do one side. have your car sit in the sun for awhile.
- don't worry about fades, i have a black car and you can't even tell there was a pinstripe.

I have a black car also and my pinstriping came right off. I started off using the hair dryer, but realized I didn't need it as I went along. just take your time and go slow to reduce the amount of residue left on there. use gasoline or wd40 to get the residue off and then give your car a nice wash and wax. my car looks so much better without it.
I just have to release my anger and ask... why the H#LL do they add pinstripes to all the cars and charge you for it!!! I know it's an easy why to make money for the dealership, but I think customers should refuse it! Just had to vent!
I'm sure when you have your oil changed, the dealer would do it for free. But it's really so easy, trust me. I expected it to be a b*tch to take off, but all I needed was my fingernail. No hairdryer, no adhesive remover. Took me about 5 minutes per side. Now my only problem is to remove the dealer sticker on the back of it. That one is stuck on good though, don't know how I'm gonna go about that...
