Removing Tape Pinstripe??? Pictures of the finished product

I am detailing a 1999 Black Chevy Cavalier convertible tomorrow morning, that has silver and red tape pinstripe on it. The pinstripe has been on the car for many years, I am assuming since 1999. The woman just bought the car used. She wants the stripe removed. I figured I would just chip it off and peel pff the rest. Do you think I need a blow dryer or a heat gun to try to peel off the tape or do you think it should come right off?

After I take it off, I am assuming I can use Aftalyne to remove the glue and then compound the area and apply glaze to the whole car to make everything match.

You think this will work, or does someone have an easier way to remove the stripes?

Thanks in advance

Just heating and peeling it should work. Also try using a Clay bar to remove the glue. Also if that doesnt work, peanut butter will usually remove it. Just put it on there, let it dry some but not totally and wipe it off. Its weird i know, but it works. But more often than not either clay or aftalyne will do the job. When you remove the stripe, peel it downward as you go across instead of straight across, more glue will stick to the stripe instead of the paint. The GM paint is very very hard, so if there is any discoloration you will need to compound and it may take a few passes for good results. Then like you said, glaze and wax and you should be good to go. The Meguiars NXT wax will also come in handy if you use it because it does contain some fillers which are great for black cars, and it will make the customer even happier with the amazing protection it offers.

It took me 2 hours to remove the pinstripe too. The one stripe came right off but the top stripe didnt, and I had to peel it all off with my nail. Then I went over it with Afta to remove the glue, compounded it, glazed it and waxed it...Looks butta.

Guess what - though. I get to the last fender, and realize the car was resprayed and the fender has painted pinstripe on it. So I didnt get to remove it. Nothing I had could get it off. She is going to take it to a body shop to have it removed tomorrow

The car took me 6 hours to detail in and out and it looks sick. I will post pics after I get back from dinner

It took me from 11am till 5:30pm to do this car. I didnt mind, because I enjoyed cleaning it. Sometimes, some of the cars I clean I just dont want to clean, and I want to get it over with you know??? The customer was very happy. She just bought the car, and it has been sitting in my neighbors driveway under a tree for the past 6 months...so you can only imagine what it looked like before.
