Just drove the baddest civic!!!
Just drove the baddest civic!!!
I just tested out my friend's 99 Si. That sucka is badd! He's had his bottom end re-done, dropped in a turbo (running 18 lbs. boost). He just installed a stage 4 clutch, which is why I was driving it, to see how it feels. It's great.
Soon as you start letting pressure off the clutch, it's already catching. Takes a minute to get used to tho after the way the clutch on our civics feel.
I want a freakin turbo kit in my car!!

No...i've talked to GReddy and apparently, they have "more important" projects.

Yep. 18 lbs. boost...only way he was able to do it was 'cause he replaced his stock pistons and rods & had port & polish done. He blew a hole in one of the stock pistons when running 14 lbs. of boost.
happened on his 2nd quarter mi. run. His first run was 13.4

The stock si engine can't handle 18 lbs. of boost, he blew a hole in a piston and damaged the piston rods running 14 lbs. He had the engine re-done with forged pistons, a new crankshaft, and new piston & connecting rods. (Bottom-end of the car was rebuilt). Distributors told him that the new pistons could probably handle up to 22 lbs.
What kind of turbo? T36? I have a buddy that has a T36 and running 20lbs of boost on his Si. Same thing as your friend....bottom end redone and he used JE pistons......the thing really moves....12.7 best and thats on 17's with Kumos on.....

<< Umm.. kinda off topic, but is "baddest" even a word? I'm in my 3rd year of college level english and I'm pretty sure it isn't!!! >>
well, your right, "baddest" isn't a word... the superlative of bad is actually worst... so if his thread were to read gramatically correct, he'd be saying "Just drove the worst civic!!!"
that's alot of boost...hmmmm...I don't see how he could hold it together..with a prayer maybe...seems all the hondas running around with turbos have trouble staying in one piece..even the major mags that build them can't seem to get it right...color me suspicious
About the GReddy turbo ive heard the same. Greddy tells us they have no plans. But my local speed shop has talked to them and they are supposed to have a prototype turbo coming real soon like june or july, from what i hear i guess ill have to wait and see.
It may not be a "real" word, but it is recognized as a slang term.
