INSURANCE DILEMNA

guys i got a HUGE problem wid da car insurance.
big question- does da primary/co-signer owner of da car FROM THE DEALER matters on da insurance of da car OR if you get a loan from the bank, does it matter who sign's up for the loan regarding the insurance?

1st policy- see man, the toyota corolla is under my uncle's name(primary) and my mom's name(co-signer) we pay like $100 a month.
2nd policy- then we have da honda civic which is under my mom's name when we bought to da dealer. then when we loaned from the bank, it was under my mom's name(primary) and im da (co-signer). but when we got the insurance they made me the primary driver..... so my insurance was like $330 a month.

questions:
1. the corolla is under my uncle's name, so if we get a title transfer from my uncle to my mom as the owner. then can we get ONE policy with BOTH of the car, since it was both under my mom's name if it was transferred?
2. does it matter who owns the car when u get an insurance policy? if so, which one matters the title owner from the dealer or the loan primary/co-signers?

DUDES HELP ME OUT HERE i can't stand paying for $330 insurance and $335 car payment .... every month.
i feel like im getting ripped off, and i can't pay too much money. I need to make a move ASAP, im paying all these BS i could have gotten a CRV or sumthing.
PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING ME WID SOME ADVICE.

that was a pain in the @ss to read your post....da, wid....my head hurts now!

but for real....your mom needs to contact the insurance agency....they could possibly get her put back as primary driver....

have you been in a wreck with it?? if so then if you were driving then the insurance company will put you as primary automatically.....if not then it should be able to be changed!

the insurance company will always put the highest risk driver as the primary driver of the most expensive car. no way around it, they are out to get as much money as they legally can from you, and then even more illegally when they do everything they possibly can to get out of paying a claim. insurance companies (and most corporations) are evil

Hey man

This sonds like one hella mess, but hey I pay over $800 a month for my car (both car and insurance).
To answer your questions I will try, the first, I am not sure if that will be better or worse in the end cause your Mom could get screwed by having to pay more for two cars, I am not sure, best bet is to call the insurance company.
The second is simple, the owner of the car, i.e the one who purchased it, is the one that should have their name on the insurance policy as the primary driver unless otherwise stated for other reasons, like if you bought the car for someone else as a gift, that way the owner of the car is insured. As for the bank I dont think it really matters whos name its in because what you do with the money is your business, but they like to know if its a car loan, house loan, personal loan, ect...., as long as you pay it back as per requested then you should be ok.'

Hope some of this ramblin helps out.

Good Luck

Let me clarify this for you a little bit.

1st. Try talking like an educated human being. You obviously didn't proofread your thread. Using "da" instead of "the" doesn't exactly make you look real intelligent. Maybe that's why your insurance is high??? People who can get ripped off will get ripped off!!

2nd The bank doesn't care which of you has insurance on the car as long as it is insured. Its part of your loan agreement that you carry full coverage insurance while they thave a lien on the car.

3rd. Your mom cannot be a primary driver on two seperate cars, there is one car the she "PRIMARILY" drives and the other she occasionally drives. If it is your civic, and it obviously is. You have to be listed as the primary driver, it not then that's insurance fraud. You can't be listed as an occasional driver and then drive that car around all day every day.

How old are you? and why is your insruance $330/month for a civic? Have you had any tickets/accidents and who is your coverage with?

A lot of people will complain about their insurance is so high to find out later that they have had a few tickets and an accident.

To my understanding, it doesn't realy matter who's name on the title. You might get a discount if you can get both vehicle under the same policy.
What matter for the insurance are:
-Who's the primary driver
-Their age
-Their driving record
-How far they travel using the vehicle every day

I'm with farm buerau (spelling?) and we have 3 cars in one policy. Of course I'm noted as the primary driver for the civic, but the policy is under my parents name and the insurance for my car is only $92 a month. The way our policy works is the more cars you have, the lower the payments for all the vehicles. I don't know much about insurance stuff, but I know in our policy my car is $92 a month, my mom's 2000 Crv is $90 a month, and my dad's 1990 civic is $79 a month. We all have clean records, no tickets or accidents. But, um, yea, thats what we pay with full coverage for all the cars.

CiViCPrAnInG2k1: I'm just stating my opinions. Isn't that what this forum is for? I did not like you "slang" in your post. I had a difficult time reading it and others did as well. I guess by using phrases such as "wid da car insurance" make you feel like a cool person? I was just making a point that insurance rates are extremely flexible and can vary for two people in the same category. If two people go into an insurance company for insurance (same age, sex, same car etc..) One looks like a slob and talks like a moron and the other one is well dressed and polite 9 out of 10 times Two seperate insurance rates will be given. There are so many factors behind insurance rates your general character can even play a role. I've had full coverage insurance with state farm since I was 16 and I hae never paid more than $130/month. I now pay $105/month on my Civc.

dude, wuts wrong wid u? u just keep on rubbing it in huh? deng kevin ur ego is bigger dan ur d.!ck. u think ur all good in english grammar....... guess wut? i don't give a foCk! to da fact dat u said, dey will give a higher insurance based on the person's looks....... dat is just flat out lame and stupid.... probably an idea from a stuck up bastard like u.
u might think ur somebody in dis site...... and u probably post whored da whole time after feb 2002, da day u became a member just to get into a senior member level. based on my observations ur not as smart as u think u are, and jeez man just SHUT UR MOUTH.

back to the insurance:
well i called ALLSTATE to get an opinion from a different insurance company and dey said, as long as my uncle's name is in the corolla, we can't drop him off the policy. nonetheless, this is not a problem because the corolla is paid off. now all we have to do is change title. so when my mom becomes the title owner of the corolla, is there a way we can combine the two cars under her name on one policy?
i know i have been asking alot in this thread, but i want to get alot of opinions as much as possible. two heads(or hundreds) are better than one. THANKS ALOT MAN.

First of all, you totally misinturpeted my post. I never said that looks will play a role in your insurance cost. What I said that your whole attitude and demeanor can make a difference. If they see you as "young man" its a possibilty that you will receive lower insurance rate. On the other hand if you are still a "kid" and they can sense that you are still young and irresponsible you will get a much higher rate. Insurance rates can vary extremely even from the same company. As much as it sucks, insurance agency can and often do base our insurance rates on first impressions. I'm not trying "flame" you at all. Nor am I here to make enemies. If you don't believe me pick an insurance company such as State Farm. Walk into one agent and ask for a rate and then go to another state farm agent (they are everywhere) and ask them for a rate. You will receive two seperate rates based on the same information.

As far as the grammar think, this is not English class. Nobody has to make sure they spell everything correctly and use "proper grammar". I have no problem with slang etc.. I just think you went overboard a little bit. Several first responses from other members also stated that they had trouble reading your posts.

-Kevin

I would have to disagree with this statement. Currently on my civic my dad is the primary driver and I am an occasional driver. Even though I am a higher risk driver the insurance company put my dad as primary, maybe I just got a really cool insurance lady.

The insurance company can not give u a rate based on how they "see" you as. For males if your 16-24 you get a rate and when your 25 you rate goes down.

CiViCPrAnInG2k1, is it really that hard to put "th" instead of a "d" Are you too frickin' lazy to press one extra key on the keyboard? Or are you just stupid. Seriously, learn how to type, it will make your post a lot easier to read.

Liq, that't not entirely true, although it is a general basis. Call another agent with you insurance company and ask them for a rate, I gurantee you that you will get a different rate than what you are currenltly paying. I guess it could depend on the insurance company. I know with state farm, which is what I have, it is kind of like a franchise. You have the general state farm insurance and coverage, but each agent can set their own rates, etc.. I'm not saying that is a good thing and I DO NOT agree with it. I have had several friends who my first impression was "FREAK" but there were nothing like that. I'm just trying to make a point that your attitude and appearance makes a difference just as a job interview. I'm not asking you to believe me, that's just what I believe. Other insurance companies may have a national system, you put in the info and they give you the rate. But I know that State Farm does have the ability to raise and decrease your insurance rates as they see fit.

is the civic the only car on the policy, if so, then they have to make your dad the primary driver if he has to go to work, thats the only way to get out of the highest risk on highest value car rule. if you were to get yourself an old $100 beater and add it to the policy, you would become primary driver of the civic and your dad would be primary driver of the beater, even if thats not how they would actually be driven

Kevin was just stating a fact on our society bro, same thing if u r goin for job, if u go all punked out and look like a thug but u really do bust ur a$$ and r very good worker, 100 -1 the clean cut dude is gonna get the job, even if he is a waste of space. So many things factor into insurance, i think u r gettin ripped somewhere. State Farm has been awesome to me, gave me all kinds of benefits since ive been in high school till college. Saying im a perfect A student and i took this class and that class, all to lower my insurance LOL...we KNOW i aint no A student.....but my agent hooked me up.

Like i said i pay 350 every 3 months and no car payments so my ride is about to get an overdose of mods here in a week or 2. Im fortunate i guess. I even asked my mom bout this situation and to cut it short, she thinks u r gettin bent over a chair and takin it the wrong way lol.

dude im 19, we got the insurance when i was 16. i think dat plays a role big time.

the thing is dat ive never gotten any ticket whatsoever...... no accidents... clean record, my family don't even believe me when i tell them. Except christmas time when some white trash trailer lady wid a big old @ss chevy truck hit me when i was on toys R us. but i don't think dat affected my insurance cuz it wasnt my fault, its hers. jeez guys, if i go on wid dis rate, i may have to go BROKE.

I have Statefarm. My Policy includes life insurance totalling $158 / month. I'm 20f and have a clean driving record. That's just for my civic.
