The Vette is a better performance vehicle I don't think anyone else said other wise I don't believe so, but it is in a different class and price range so I should perform better stock. I don't like debating modded cars because with enough money you can make anything as fast as you'd like.

prototype is on a distinguished road
ok here we go...i didnt read all of the posts but saw a few that got to me.

- you can get an 02 z06 for 25k...yes you can but its got 60k miles on it no warantee and who know who beat the **** out of it.

-for 30k you can get an over priced wrx, sti's are 33ish

- 8g's can get you running low 11's in an evo....how much u need to make a 7th gen run 11's?

but whatever...im just talking from my *** since i own that evo the miss sivikchik posted

-for 30k you can get an evo IX brand new

-per performance...the evo matches up the sti almost as an equal. you wanna argue the sti has 300hp....ok fine the evo has 285...whos gonna miss 15hp? mind you this isnt even whp.....but crank hp.

This is true of EVERY high horsepower, performance oriented car. Evo maintenance is cheap in comparison to say a Porsche or Exotic.

The Evo stock for stock is pretty much right on par with a Porsche Cayman..... for about $20K less And now that Subaru ****ed up the STi the EVO is that much more enticing. Not to mention the Evo is MUCH more mod-friendly than an Sti.

Also the "286 hp" Evo IX dynos higher than the "300 hp" STI. In the comparo between the Cayman and Evo in R&T the Evo had a better lap time than the $70,505 price as tested Porsche.

They're economy cars reworked with world-class engineering. Are they worth the money? Depends on what you want them for. First and foremost, they're all-wheel drive. Which means you're gonna have the maximum amount of traction, ALL THE TIME. Downside to this is that the drivetrain wastes a lot of power, and by that I mean they're not very efficient. They're not very good for straight-line speed, but they're definitely fast enough.
actually AWD only means you have "maximum" traction avalbile for acceleration. the car still has to obey the same laws of physics as every other car in regards to cornering and brakeing traction.

Yeah, I guess that's true. Never really looked at it that way. I guess once you dip in the clutch all drivetrains are equal, in a sense.

Its a very common misconseption... Like having a 4WD truck in the snow/ice, just because you've got 4wd, doesnt mean you're going to be able to stop any quicker then any one else.

but ya, the only real advantage of AWD on a car, is in the ability to power out of turns better. other then that, the only real difference between drivetrain layouts is wegith distribution and how much tire you can fit under them.
