Resonator?

By removing the resonator what should one expect and what exactly does it do?

without custom piping you can expect a high pitched lawnmower sound and most likely a sound ordinance ticket . Seriously though, it'll be so loud that you won't be able to talk in the car with a friend when you're taking off.

hmmm, i have no resonator, and it doesn't sound like a lawn mower, i don't get sound ordinance tickets, and i can still talk in the car when i'm takin off. it is loud, but not to any extreme. and it actually sounds nice and deep.

Ya know what...I don't think our civics are capable of sounding like what i call a "yang yang" (named after the farting sound it makes). Because i don't have a resonator and mine sounds deep even with stock piping and it's still cool with upgraded piping. I think its because the cat on our cars are so close to the engine...or something like that so no matter what you slap onto it it won't sound like a lawnmower, but headers for shure will make it fart. I've tried. Hate headers...for get the couple of horses it puts on.

You need to specify whether you are talking about the air intake resonator or the exhaust resonator.

first of all its a header nto headers and no my car doesnt sound like its farting or whatever your talking about , o and your resonator is just there to lessen the sound from your intake.

yeah, uh hes talking about the big fat resonator in the engine compartment not the one for the exhaust, and no, it will decrease your torque, but everyone will think you have intake.

sKwiD is on a distinguished road
I tried taking off the resonator today but didnt know how But I did loosen my muffler during 4th period at school today b/c we had study hall. Drove home and it sounded GREAT Like a Greddy, really low... except for a little bit of rattle and the fact that I'm polluting the earth. I got home and screwed it back on... Anyways, I've been hearing that resonator will just make ur car sound kool, nothing performance wise...Good Luck
