Someone, please enlighten me!
What does it "really" mean when someone says one car is faster than the other? Does it mean that it goes from 0-60mph in a shorter time period compared to the other car? If so, what ultimately determines this? Is it the number that the car produces at the dyno? Is hp a direct relationship with speed? i.e if Car A has 330hp and Car B 300hp, does it necessarily mean that Car A will reach 60mph before Car B does?

Circuit racing is done by lap time(faster car wins)
Drag racing is the fastest quarter mile time(falser car wins)
Street racing, two cars line up at a light & the first one to "slow down" looses
etc...

Rep Power: 258 hp doesnt mean jack. because weight, tq, all that crap comes into play. to answer ur question, is a 330hp car faster than a 300hp car? no. for all u know, the 330hp car could weight 3000 pounds and the 300hp could weigh 2000. but the word fast is hard to explain. because what is fast to me (which is anything faster than my civic) could be sloow to u.
to determine which car is faster, people usually base it on the 1/4 mile race. unless they're doing it on a highway, fast would = first to slow down, as someone else said. the reason they would slow down is because after a certain point, u'll realize that u cant catch up, OR you topped ur car out

Rep Power: 338 well, 1st off, not everyone has the same definition of fast..... and in many cases, it can be the driver thats faster.... but to make things simple, it depends on type of comparison, such as, 0-60, 1/4 mile, skidpad, lap time, course time, braking, slalom........ some ppl disregard lap time, braking and such and look only at 1/4 mile times. So.... lets say car A is faster on the 1/4 mile but car B is faster on road course.... which car is ultimately faster? That depends on what you consider are the "requirements" for being fast.

Rep Power: 812 i guess it means getting from one point to a defined second point first. assuming both cars have equal drivers, its the car to get there first. this will account for car weight, hp, etc. but there are ALOT of conditions that come into play. road condition, tires, etc

probably the best one out there Second to Real racing aka *AUTO-X*. But usually what i would say is defined as a fast car is that which can beat those in its class or that of the same year. IE a 7th gen vs a 7th Gen. And not compare and apple to an orange IE Mustang vs 7th Gen.
