Buy it Out or no? "Civic Lease"
Buy it Out or no? "Civic Lease"
Hi there, I have a quick question and i would like your opinions on it.
I'm Looking at buying out my moms civic when the lease is up in year and im not sure if i should bother or just look for a different one.
The car is a 2003 Civic Si coupe/Si-g Bought new in 03 by my mom.
It is red with the factory performance kit, sunroof, 5 speed, aluminum rims , 6 cd changer and pretty much everything but leather. It was bought 25k new and the lease for it will be up in june of 07.
It currently only has 40,000 km's on it and has been driven "conservatively" by my mother since its purchase, its been in for all scheduled checkups and maintenance and is in exceptional shape.
The Price to buy it out is something like 10,500 canadian so about 12 when all is said and done.
I am Currently driving a 98 civic cx hatch and have my year of insurance payed until roughly the time that lease is up.
So what do you think should i consider buying this car when the lease is up?
From what i see its a fairly good value but im sure some of you will have different opinions which i hope you will share.
Also if you think buying it out is a ill advised decision any suggestions as to another vehicle in the same price range would be appreciated. "roughly 8-12k"
Thanks

Financially it is a good deal considering it only has 40K on it. They are a fun ride and can be pimped really nice. As you have probably seen with everyone else's rides
As for the engine, look around the site for power upgrades and the ENDLESS opinions on this motor
. It all depend son what you plan on doing with it. What engine does your hatch have? Cuz if you are looking for engine upgrades and laying down over 200 HP people are going to tell you to swap or turbo. either way you are looking at spending 4-10K to do either.
We can all go on and on about this issue and it has been beaten to death. Write down what you will actually want to achieve with your car. Wiegh the pros and cons. So I would suggest on seriuosly thinking about what you want to do and what your $$ situation looks like. if you can afford to do what you want within 2 years, do it. If you think it will take you longer then that, don't cuz over the years, priorities and goals change. You may get sick of your car and buy something else.

I don't know, but when I lived in upstate ny those winters gave cars a 12 year lifespan max. I would lean toward getting the 03 if you're not going to race/mod the hatch.

Most of the time a residual value is more than what you can buy the car for. But since it's your mom's you know how it was driven.Wait until it's near up then start checking around for prices on them.
