Easter, almost total, god bless
Hi,
Today is canadian easter, it was rainning. I was driving on a 3 lanes highway at about only 110Km/hour, this is probably slow according few people in this site.
When I came off from a 3 lanes ramp @ 110Km/hour, I lost control. The reason is probably because the ramp is a right turn, and I was at the center lane trying to get to right most lane. At this speed, with rain and racing tires, bad thing can happen.
First the car is suddenly pulled to the right, heading the road block. I tried to correct it, then suddenly the car is pulled to the left in a such strength that the whole car made a 180 degree rotation. I end up at 3rd lane facing at opposite direction (head to head with other cars).
The engine shuted down itself too, I had to wait 1 min before I can start the car again. so I was facing at the opposite direction for 1 min at the left most lane.
God blessed me. During the whole process, not a single car passed by me. Traffic controller probably was shocked from what they saw on highway video camera.
Conclusion, we never know what will happen to us, therefore, it might be a good idea to keep your speed down during the rain, if you have racing tires.
Also, why would the engine shut off itself in a case like this??

that happened when i was driving my friend TA, i hydroplaned ( i was doing about 35mph) and i spun out, i did 3 360 through 4 lanes of traffic (i was in right lane going south, went through the left south over the median through noth lanes going north and back to the left lane south) in the middle of the day on a saturday alot of cars and i just happen to go in between everyone one. thank god. and the engine turned off there too. so i was sittin with the *** up on the median and front end in the left lane. sat like that for about 2 minutes before it would start again.
wow, you are lucky. Yeah racing tires arent so good for the rain. And as for the engine stalling, if you put the clutch in when you started spining it shouldnt stall. If you didnt of course it would, the engine doesnt like being pulled back with that much force. If you had an auto tranny well then you really cant do much. Ive spun my car while screwing around on a empty road, but I jumped for the clutch right away and it didnt stall.

i believe the reason for the car to stall during a spin is because the gasoline in the gas tank will swish to the sides of the tank, thus giving very little fuel to the fuel lines. the ecu recognizes a lack of fuel, so it shuts down the engine. i'm not 100% on this, though, but i do remember reading this on the forums somewhere.
