Mad hp gains.....
wtf? u must be smokin something no N/A car (that includes rsx) can get 18 hp from a intake...only turbo cars can get double hp gains from an intake...u must be crazy to believe that...and it doesn't matter if it is dohc or sohc a N/A is N/A..nothin to do about it unless u force induce it....
dats partly due to the fact that the higher hp rsx-s engine is already limited by the intake that is used on base rsxs.. that is why hp comes more easily, although i highly doubt that is acurate.. maybe more like 12hp gain. also hp gains comes in percentages.. the rsx-s already has 200 hp which a gain of 5% would be 10hp where as we have 127 a gain of 5% would be like 6hp
anyways thats just my logic

Most people have dyno'd their RSX's with an average of about 10 hp. That 18 hp figure is a little off. Most people that dyno'd their Type S ended up around 170 as a baseline. Just intake and exhaust on an RSX net about 18 in total.
superstreet or turbo, i cant remember at the moment has a project rsx type-s and they simply changed the exhaust to a borla setup and netted 12WHP! my god! i wish my car would net 12WHP from a bolt on exhaust! damn thats hot shizzo

I wouldn't believe that number from the company that sells them or the magazine that makes money from advertising them....
Can't even get that much from most I/H/E setups

I highest Dyno I think on clubrsx.com with intake and exhaust is just over 190hp I believe. I/E varies from about 10-20 depending on which combo you have. Borja, Magnaflow, Comptech, Injen, AEM ect.....
Now there is an RSX on there spraying a 40 shot, Lexan windows, I/E, and a FAL rad fan, and he ran 13.0x. Now that is fast. I have run a 15.01 with just intake, but I need more practice with the launch. My car (Type-s) should now be capable of mid-high 14's with the exhaust on.

You really have to consider what you are starting from. If a car has an intake that is highly restrictive, an aftermarket intake could make some decent gains. On the other hand, if a car has a moderately restrictive intake like our civics, you won't get that much of a gain.
I also don't believe that E/I/h will only net 5hp on our civics. It is probably more like 8-10.

anything that has to do with incoming air and releasing air will have huge gains on the turbo cars
i am right there with you 2001CivicEx2dr, no way a intake can get u that many hp....maybe more like 3 hp...dyno isn't the same as driving on the street hope u know that...

dude said it best....
The RSX isnt a SOHC ULEV car, its a DOHC i-VTEC LEV car, its designed more for performance not economy, just look at the milage estimates for christ's sake

import tuner did a dyno test on a 2k1 civic with a hayame intake and picked up 4.2 hp to the wheels with no other mods. and that intake is only a $150 SRI.
click here then scroll down to the the hayame intake short report.
If you scroll down a little farther on the site you see a HP header making 8 hp to the wheels on a non vtec 96 civic DX. I know its not ULEV like ours but hell its still a weaker engine. props to HP for such good headers.

also look were our throtle body is. you literally ned to make the air go up the engine bay make a 90 degree turn then dip shriaghtdown i mean the chance of a shot of air going into the enigne bay is a shot in hell
If I could make like $200,000 off us I would say that and intake would give you 20hp...and get Import Tuner to advertise it....and tell them I will give them $90,000 if they do that...so still I would have $110,000 profit....Injen and other aftermarket companies make more...but hey they have to sell this stuff some how....but and exaust that will give 18+ hp...wow...but I don't think soo..
So what is a lil 5-8hp more to advertise than it really does.... It sure messed a lot of ppl up on this thread...well some...
